Is this game much good?

I loved yakuza 0
kiwami 1 was alright
kiwami 2 was OK but the physics system made it hard to enjoy the combat.
yakuza 3 is the first Id be playing where its the old game and not a remake

I did all the side quests in kiwami 2, forgot if I did it for the others. But I remember the side quests I did in 0 were better than any other game

I like it. As long as you go in expecting the jank, blocking, and orphanage bullshit, you'll be fine. I like 3 more than Kiwami 1 and Ishin imo

When do the games get comparable to yakuza 0 again?
I heard yakuza 3 is when the story picks up again, since kiwami 1 and 2 werent as good as 0

What do you mean exactly?

In terms of mechanics and engine? Not until 5. 3 and 4 use the same engine.

In terms of fun? Yakuza 4 is pretty great even though the story is dumb

From what I understand, 0 is probably the high point of the series and starting with it instead of going chronologically kinda sets you up for disappointment.

Kiwami 1 is the most like Zero because they use the same engine and fighting systems.

Kiwami 2 is just amazing and I'm not sure why someone wouldn't like it.

I've gotten up to Yakuza 5 in the main series but I just can't get past Haruka's extremely boring busywork segment. The games really suffer when they keep bouncing around from character to character just when you're getting comfortable with one, Yakuza 4 was bad about this too. Still haven't played Yakuza 6. Zero is good and has the best story in the series but I just liked the more intense and challenging combat in Kiwami 1 and 2.

3s a decent game but probably the weakest in the series.

The memes exist for a reason, blocking is VERY prominent, it's not unplayable but it can get annoying.

Also if you're playing it via the remastered collection some stuff like quicksteps don't work properly due to the FPS boost afaik

Yakuzas 3-5 were trash, IMO.

I'm not going to spoil why I thought Y3 was bad, but you'll figure it out (if it's an issue for you, I mean), and 4&5 largely because of how they forced the multiple protagonists.

I haven't played Y6, but besides Y0, the two most praised games in the franchise, from my experience, are Y2/Kiwami 2 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

Yakuza 3 is going to feel old.

There are no bad games in the series, but it's going to feel older than any game you've played in the series, and probably will feel the oldest out of the lot of them.

I would say it's definitely worth it if you have an emotional attachment to Kiryu.
