I just got off work. On the way out the door my boss stopped me to talk about doing some training next month. I work 7 on and 7 off 12 hour shifts overnight. This training day happens to be in the middle of my work week in the morning. That time/day is non negotiable.

My boss told me I can just work an extra 4 hours after my shift to do training. That is about how long it will take and the time it starts neatly lines up after I get off work. So my boss expected me to work 16 hours, go home, get 5 hours of sleep if Im lucky, then come back for my next 12 hour shift.

I looked at her like she was crazy and then we started to negotiate. She didnt open up with that. She really expected me to actually do that with no issues. What the fuck?

Well I know Im not doing it. I nipped that at the bud right then and there. She started talking about getting people to cover part of my shift and adjusting time on my next shift so it isnt so bad. Im just baffled she thought this wouldnt be a problem

There have been several red flags lately. Well not even lately. Its something I didnt really notice when I work overnights because I just work with one other person. Even then I mostly work alone. I dont see management often or other coworkers that dont work overnight with me outside of maybe 1 hour total per day. So I didnt really see the issues because they rarely had anything to do with me. Once I started to open my eyes and look around, things are kinda become a shit show
