What a false equivalence. Israel was attacked by terrorists, Ukraine was invaded, by an actual military with an actual goal of conquering Ukraine. Bear in mind, this is still an incredibly charitable description of Israel's situation.
Israel was attacked by terrorists who not only want to take their land ("from the river to the sea"), they explicitly want to rape, torture, and murder every single Jew in that land, as we got a preview of on Oct. 7th.
Israel is surrounded by enemies and the only reason they haven't been swamped on multiple fronts yet is Based Biden parking some aircraft carriers in the region and daring anyone to try us.

Israel should not be a US ally.
They should, as the only actual free democracy in the region, and have been for 3/4 of a century.

Again, not the same thing at all?
It is, see above.

Maybe the US should try vesting their interest in a middle-eastern state that isn't as shitty as Israel
Oh, now this is rich! Please enlighten me on these Middle Eastern countries that are so good and wholesome!
Saudi Arabia?
Iran?
How about the military dictatorship in Egypt?
Or maybe Quatar and the UAE's heavy use of slave labor that kills untold numbers from poor treatment every year is more your speed?

"We should provide aid to a country fighting a defensive war against an imperial military, we shouldn't provide aid to a colonial apartheid state who are committing ethnic cleansing" is a perfectly consistent position
The "colonial apartheid state" that withdrew to the internationally recognized borders for Gaza willingly, only for them to immediately elect Hamas into power.
The state so bad at "ethnic cleansing" and "genocide" that Gaza's population exploded faster than one of their own rockets.

How come no one on the left ever calls out the "white colonizer" rhetoric for being nakedly and horrifically racist?
Jews have always lived in Israel since the religion's origins; during the Ottoman Empire they paid a tax to exist (still better than the "convert or die" alternative in Christian Europe) and the Muslims were fine w/ them being there...as subjects.
Israel existed thousands of years ago and while the modern state (just like "Palestine") was formed in 1947, it's not some new concept.
Progressives want to paint Israelis as a bunch of Europeans that came to the Middle East and took the brown peoples' historic lands, so it neatly fits into their racial narrative.

Ok, that sure sounds scary, but so what? They're not an actual military. They're not actually invading Israel. They make weapons out of shit they smuggle in, they're certainly not rocking up with a navy and air force.

They should, as the only actual free democracy in the region, and have been for 3/4 of a century.

The US should not be allying with colonial apartheid states. Lets not play dumb here.

It sounds like the US should get out of the middle east then. Whod've thunk it.

This is trolling or completely ignorance. Either way, not eorth responding to.

The state so bad at "ethnic cleansing" and "genocide" that Gaza's population exploded faster than one of their own rockets.

Doing ethnic cleansing and genocide slowly does not make it not those things.

How come no one on the left ever calls out the "white colonizer" rhetoric for being nakedly and horrifically racist?

You've put into quotes a phrase that hasn't been uttered anywhere in this thread and possibly this entire board regarding this conflict.

Jews have always lived in Israel since the religion's origins; during the Ottoman Empire they paid a tax to exist (still better than the "convert or die" alternative in Christian Europe) and the Muslims were fine w/ them being there...as subjects.

Jews certainly lived there. They weren't carving out the land and displacing hundreds of thousands of people though.

>Israel existed thousands of years ago and while the modern state (just like "Palestine") was formed in 1947, it's not some new concept.

The modern state was formed in 1947 so a state from thousands of years ago is completely irrelevant.

>Progressives want to paint Israelis as a bunch of Europeans that came to the Middle East and took the brown peoples' historic lands, so it neatly fits into their racial narrative.

Again you're strawmanning. I'm also not a progressive so this point is irrelevant. Its also irrelevant because there absolutely are several white American and European Jews who go to West Bank and force out the people already living there. Its not the majority but it absolutely is a thing that happens.

One side wants to support the country defending itself against an invasion. The other wants to support a country attempting to inflict mass displacement at best and genocide at worst.

Seems like quite a typical fit for both parties if you ask me.
