Snell does not meet that qualification at all. he was 20th in SIERA and in general was just very fortunate with runners on base, hence his shiny ERA

snell was top 10 in NL IP.... also has a LOB% 7 points higher than webb's for careers. he just walks a lot of ppl its not a big deal

yeah that wouldn't be a problem if he still didn't throw almost 40 fewer innings than Webb. Snell is like the poster child for good starter that just cannot go deep into games.

in fact the big difference seems to be in Snell's third time through splits this year. historically this is where he struggles, hence the infamous World Series hook (which was stupid tbf). this year in almost 40 innings of work the third time through a lineup, his ERA was 1.83. Amazing, right? Except a closer look at that sample sees his strikeout rate drop to 27%, on itself that's not so bad, actually an increase from his career numbers in that scenario. the real problem is his walk rate climbed to almost 19%, which is p bad. so then how did he get that shiny sub 2.00 ERA? a .155 BABIP and nearly 90% strand rate. basically, an insane amount of luck

tbf pitchers do influence their babip quite a bit. and maybe he just pitches better with guys on. idk. have you ever seen freddie freeman's numbers with risp? he changes his approach

white sox traded aaron bummer to the braves for braden shewmake, nicky lopez, jared shuster, mike soroka, and some dude i forgot. weird trade. four of these guys need to be on the 40 man roster and none of them are good. i guess soroka has a lot of upside but if the braves are bailing, i kind of doubt the white sox will fare much better. lopez/shewmake can be their middle infield next year since idk who tf their 2B/SS are?? shuster was a top 5 braves prospect so there's that i guess.

white sox gm has said "all white sox players are available" too. luis robert and dylan cease i'm sure are attractive to many teams.

Maybe Soroka'll have a turnaround year.

this is an absolute fleece for the braves tbh. they traded a bunch of nothing for a controllable reliever with really good stuff. white sox are basically the new royals as we all expected with the hire of chris getz. the royals loved to trade assets for low upside organizational filler

Votto's a 40-year-old free agent now. Maybe he can sign with someone, but his last two years have been injury-plagued, so the likelihood isn't super high. He didn't get a farewell tour with the Reds, though, so I still hold onto the slim sliver of a scintilla of a chance he'll come back, somehow, someway.

The Reds only missed the playoffs this year by a couple games, so they were already on the precipice and couldn't bear to peek over, haha. That can be racked up to rookie fatigue, though; it'll be a different story this year, hopefully.

I just saw a clip of Pablo Sandoval hitting a 3 home run homer, but it was doubled to 6 runs because it was a golden baseball. Some real wacky shit going on in that league.

like that deal for both sides tbh. for seattle they clear dead weight salary with a chance to upgrade their outfield via trades and such. they've been linked to randy arozarena and honestly it won't be too hard to upgrade from kelenic since he isn't a very good player. if they don't spend any more money and are just being cheap then yeah that sucks

for the braves they don't give up anything to maybe see if they can get a talented guy in Kelenic to figure it out

All their ownership sees is that they were just shy of making the playoffs again. It's funny that this is the second time Kelenic has been part of a highly questionable trade. Hopefully the change of scenery helps him.
