Sommething old, something recent. I just picked back up Shadow of Mordor for the first time is many year and damn what a great game. I abandoned it but I'm glad I picked it up again.

I challenge current events to pick something they abandoned from their backlog and make a post about it. Or if you've done this anyway recently please share which game and whether you are glad you picked it back up or not.

I'm betting many of us missed out on some gems from abandoning them.

Pretty sure I abandoned it for reasons

That would be me hooking up my PS2 and continuing on with Star Ocean III. I left at the Kirlsa Caverns where you had to ride those turtle creatures. I'm pretty sure the last time I played that game was around 2009 or 2010.

Plus, I've already been spoiled on the game's big plot twist.

Would make it the 3rd time I've tried to pick up and finish SMT 3. Hate me (but do it honestly) but I had more fun finishing Tales of Berseria or playing and finishing/refinishing old RPGs like Shining in the Darkness and FF6. I even couldn't put down Etrian Odyssey Untold for a longer amount of time (but that's on my backlog now as well).

In any case, I'm ALREADY playing a lot of Darkest Dungeon right now and still never finished a single playthrough and I started in 2017.

Same, I went back to finish up the DLC. Got my ass kicked at first, but then I read the move list and I was fine. I had a lot of fun finishing it up.

it has too much talking i didnt want to interact with the npcs any longer. if i were to replay it i might just go the kill everything route if it's possible. that is what i do in some other games

I'm playing through Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals currently. I kept abandoning my playthroughs somewhere in the chapter 6-18 range for whatever reason; it's really bad. I figured since it takes place 20 years after Blazing Sword and it's now 20 years since I first played Blazing Sword, now's the time to finally get a playthrough to the end.

Based on everything I've seen and heard about this game I'm sure there's a good reason you abandoned it lol. Makes me glad the series never clicked with me and that I've gone all in on the Yakuza series instead.

Ember - a classic style indie Isometric RPG kinda like old Baldur's Gate infinity engine games.

Actually double dipped on Steam and Switch, it's a really good game but I've abandoned it on both platforms and really want to play it through to the end.

Same deal with Dragon's Dogma.

Trails of cold steel is a game I enjoy but keep abandoning due to me preferring playing rpgs on switch in handheld mode as of when I got the oled

Does that include games I haven't opened?

I do have Star Ocean: Divinity and Faithlessness in my backlog, right by my PS4. I know it's been in there awhile, because I'm not even remembering the title correclty.

I know I'm the opposite of most people but I'm so done with Yakuza after the current games. Even if they weren't localized the way they are I felt like the soul left the series after the PSP entries. I think all three Shenmue games are totally worth revisiting though.

I do need to go back to Ender Lilies at some point. Might start again if I do. I liked it a lot, but didn't play for a while and then got a new game when I did.

Currently playing Pizza Tower though, and haven't finished that yet.

For me it is Persona 5 Strikers. I quickly dropped it because I thought I'd love it because I love Dynasty Warriors. But I was having a hard time with it so I said screw it. I never even beat the first jail.

After I recently completed the Royal edition of Persona 5 I decided to try it again. I still think it is just mostly OK I do like spending some time with the cast again and want to see where it goes eventually.

I'll have to try it. Only recently played 5 Royal for the first time. Are you excited for the Tactics game? I love how it looks. XCOM with the wackiness of Mario and Rabbids seems to suit the Persona games.

Nah. I have no interest in that game. Maybe if I see it on sale someday and I have nothing to play, but otherwise I could do without it. I didn't think it would be anything like X-com though. Thought it would be like an typical srpg.

To be fair, I was just a dumb kid when the first two games were relatively new so maybe I just didn't get it back then. If there was any guarantee of the series reaching a proper conclusion within my lifetime I could maybe give it a try, but between knowing that every game so far ends on a cliffhanger and 3 having such irredeemably bad combat, it's just something I don't want to invest any time in with the benefit of hindsight. Which is a shame because I probably would at least like the first one if I gave it an honest shot.

Yeah I need to give that another shot. I bought the older gen version and it was pretty unplayable but I did enjoy it when it was working. Vaguely reminded me of Deus Ex.

I jump around constantly between games and rarely finish any of them, except for some absolute faves that I finish many time, and those tend to be more open ended games or games where you can try alternate difficulties, character builds and parties, loadouts, or have procedural areas ans RNG battles and loot.

I have a semi large backlog, I'm trying to get through it. I'm still fucking around in BG3, 13 sentinels is sitting here, FE: Engage maybe, GBA roms, only so many hours in the day

Oof this is about 80% of my entire game library.

Why I keep buying games that I will likely never play? Who knows?

Guess I'll do SMTV. Didn't get that far before new shit came out and I stopped playing it.

Fire Emblem Engage was great. Definitely worth playing.

Slay the Spire has been sitting with 2 hours played for over a year.

Also Super brothers Sword and Sworcery but that's old as shit. Literally 10 years at least.

Ive been kicking around the idea of getting back to Metroid Prime 2. Game was great until I got to the goddamned Spider Guardian.

Honestly, I wouldnt even care about its difficulty if the save room was right by the boss. But its not. Instead, every time you fuck up, you have to trek like 10-ish minutes from the save room to the boss. Has a fucking meltdown over it like a year ago and havent looked back lmao. Fuck that shit.

Still kinda hate leaving the game unfinished though. Ive beaten it before but that was a long time ago. Maybe Ill give it another try again soon.

I liked the Lost Child quite a lot. I haven't beat the bonus/post game dungeon though. A large part is I need to grind for money and I know no efficient way to make a ton of money to buy a key I need.
