I mean atheism is the more logical, objective way. But presenting it as superior sends the wrong impression.

I dont necessarily think that atheism is automatically more logical and objective. Not all religion believes in an all powerful sky man that casts non-believers into a fire. I think a lot of people cling to religion in hopes of understanding the afterlife
How is not believing in religion not inherently more logical in that context? Obviously, an atheist can still be dumb and act illogically in many other ways.

Do we even have any proof that suggests that there is an afterlife?

Christian science. Kermit won't shut the fuck up about the logos.

Not believing in supernatural stuff would be the neutral position. In the absence of any evidence, it would be illogical to assume that theism of any sort is true. It doesn't mean that atheism is automatically correct and there's nothing wrong with exploring possibilities, but it's just not logical to believe in gods.

I think atheism will defacto be the more logical idea for 2 reasons.

  1. Atheism is merely rejecting an answer rather than proposing idealogy. Which defacto makes it simplier and less complicated.
  2. Atheism accepts "I don't know" as a valid answer to a question. Religion does not. Which IMO makes it less logical

There's a photo of Billy in China at 11AM. Then there's photo of Billy in New York at 11.02AM on the same day. How is this possible?

"Maybe that's not Billy? Maybe the photos are doctored? Maybe the dates are wrong? I have several theories but I don't know." is more a logical answer than "Because God did it."

Remember, every religious person is an atheist with respect to Odin, Zeus, etc., so ask yourself whats more logical: that out of the millions of religions that have ever existed, all of them except one were wrong, or that they were all wrong?

slightly unrelated but i really like stories that have EVERY religion represented as real even if they dont exactly make sense to coexist

Yeah. For fantasy, me too. I cant think of any off the top of my head besides High School DxD and to a lesser extend The Dresden Files.

the shin megami tensei game series is really good for all types of religious figures interacting. the latest mainline title has a pretty cool angle on how capital G God can exist and do the things he does despite the gods of other religions also existing

I'd argue it's more pro for the biblical God than the other religions. At least all of the ones I've played.

The top dogs tend to be Lucifer, the Arc Angel's, Satan. With the other religions being lesser beings.

Not saying practices of other religion don't okay SMT over this. But I imagine they aren't particularly thrilled to see their religions depicted as weaker than the biblical God in this series.

I would say theyre overwhelmingly focused on Christianity though. I mean, Nocturne has Indra, Shiva, Thor, and other deities as demons, but its not like their divinity is given much focus etc.

I've been rewatching this over the past couple of weeks and it really is damn good at setting up power scaling and blending together a bunch of different mythologies. Sucks that we're probably never getting a s5, it's some of the best content in the novels

5 is probably the one that balances this the most. I dont want to spoil the plot, but that game gives a reason for Christianitys god to be so much stronger, and some high profile gods from other religions are NOT happy with this, and seek to regain their own power.

Nocturne is way less focused on the demons mythology than most of them id say. Obviously Lucifer is prominent, but God isnt even present. The world the game takes place in is just a placeholder for a new world, so the demons and mythological figures act in ways that they usually wouldnt

The Fate franchise comes pretty darn close. While some of the highest level stuff is different, basically every legend is true in universe. For example, the Christian god is real (as are figures like Jesus or Moses) and divinity is an in universe thing. Acts like the parting of the Red Sea actually happened. This is all in a universe where Gilgamesh befriends Enkidu and embarks on adventures, King Arthur pulls Excalibur and becomes King, Dracula was actually a vampire and even literal stories like Frankenstein were true.

Thats the last one I played, as I dont like handheld gaming and refuse to buy third parties on Switch as third party Switch exclusives always seem to make their way to Steam eventually.
