I'm kinda bored of Open World super hero games. Loved Arkham Asylum and Arkham City for the atmosphere but by the time Origins and Knight came out I was done. I really loved Spiderman 1 but couldn't get into Miles Morales because it was just more of the same. I think I just didn't care for the story in MM but I did in SM1. How is SM2? More of the same? The odd main mission followed by a load of collectathon and boring side content? I don't think I'd be up for that. Is the main story worth the price of admission if I wasn't overly wowed by MM? ... I feel there's less copy paste busy work than most open open world games, but if you were bored by Miles Morales, i don't see this one changing anything. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I thought it was a 10/10 game. Lots of improvements to both the combat and the traversal systems. And I found both the main story and the side stories to be a lot of fun. But I'm also someone that loved the Miles Morales game.
There's still plenty of collectibles and side content, but all of that is optional if you just want the main story. --- PSN - NoxObscuras Z490 | i9-10900K | EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra | 32GB DDR4 3600 | 4TB SSD ... Copied to Clipboard!

I mean, it is a sequel. Its still the same core game with largely the same core formula.
I enjoyed most of the side-content, but I also just heavily enjoy the core gameplay loop so more of an excuse to engage with it was all up my alley. The main story is very fun but I think the side-content is good for giving the story time to breathe. I don't think the pacing would work aw well blitzing through it. I think swinging was really improved. Think its to do with the PS5 processor or something but the game runs like butter and it really feels like you can swing super fast. I swung around a bit in the first game after my playthrough of 2 and its night and day. You also have more options for gaining speed helps the pacing Combat is largely the same obviously but it still has a unique enough feel imo. Focus generation was nerfed pretty hard, and gadgets aren't quite as explosive so you don't have an easily accesible stream of one-shots like in the first game, but in exchange you have a lot more options to manipulate the battlefield and its easier than ever to be zipping around. I played the game on the highest difficulty that didn't need to be unlocked. The game was fairly challenging but not necessarily hard. It definitely encourages engaging with your options but its not super punishing if you don't. --- Dokkan ID: 2365415872 ... Copied to Clipboard!
