I would have posted this yesterday, but they were having a through-back old reel-style game, presumably because of Armistice day.
And people might think the game is always like that.

But anyway, Isonzo is the third installment in Blackmills WWI series.
The other two being Verdun and Tannenburg.
They go out of their way to get things historically accurate, as best they can.

Isonzo, is WWI on the Italian front.
It's pretty much all mountain warfare and they nailed it.

Spoilers, the last map they dropped on Friday, free of charge, has you fighting in Alpine glaciers in certain sectors.

Not sure how long this will last.
But, its free, at least on Steam.

I played version for a little while. The graphics are mid and the gameplay is okay. Where it shines is when you get a good squad together and actually act out the battles and play it like it was meant to historically be played. Just going in like it's battlefield or call of duty and you will have a bad time.

Ya, this isn't a Bro-FPS shooter, none of the games in the series attract that sort.
As for the Graphics, I think it does its job quite well for being an Indie game.
Cresting a mountain can have all the effect it needs.

Yeah agreed, I'm easily wowed by graphics. Just going by what I know others would think when reviewing such a game.

It's a good-looking game.
And that is some 1991 metric to judge a game on.

Huh? I was specifically talking about the guy saying it got a bad review. The review probably knocked the graphics because their not AAA. To me they look good enough. I haven't read the review but my assumption is that they didn't like the graphics and it didn't play like call of duty or battlefield.

I enjoyed Verdun a lot but then it runs into the problem with most multiplayer shooters that allows lots of players: you get one guy hacking and ruining it for the entire server, which doubly hurts because there aren't that many servers because it's not that popular of a game.

Oh, My bad...
I didn't mean it like that, consider it a misunderstanding.
I know people have said Verdun doesn't look like much, but they forget that everything was blown to hell.

Ya, he is something.
I have gotten Melee kills on him though.
He is a good rival though.
I respect him and like fighting against him.

I used to Lown Wolf in Tannenbuger.
The Devs reduced the size of the maps, and they sighted that.
I really wish they hadn't. Tannenburge had some awesome open-world, capture the flag maps.
It still does, but it is less tactical then it once was.

Right now, Izono has a bunch of noobs, which can be difficult in it's way.

It looks like it's half off on consoles right now, the standard and complete editions, for those interested.

American Civil War fps fucking when

There is one, War of Rights.
It looks like you spend a lot of time reloading your muskets.

For the record though, I've never particularly like FPS games, so the one's I mentioned are really the only ones I play. But I have plenty of hours in them. ...Kind of a crazy amount of hours.

If you are even remotely interested in this sort of musket era FPS with long load times, Holdfast is great, though I can't say how active the community is nowadays.

I am not necessarily into that, but I would try it on a free-to-play weekend.
Having said that Napolian Total War is my go to.

There aren't many games about The American Revolution.
I have played the Total war version, but it's a bit small, unless there is a Darthmod I don't know about.
But I live within a Canons echo of the Saratoga Battle Field, so that sort of thing has alway been top of mind.

Until then, the is always good old, Sid Meier's Colonization.
~And I always play as The Dutch.

I pre-ordered the game because I loved the first 2 games in the WWI series. The reviews are correct, Isonzo does suck. It added too much busy work unlocks and abilities which take away from the realism the series was known for.

Not even worth playing for free now as the game can no longer even keep 1 full server up anymore. Best to stick with the first game Verdunn as the other two games Isonzo and Tannenberg are always dead.

As for Tann your best to checkout the Euro servers. Europeans tend to take that game more seriously.

As for, in general, a lower user base, that might not be a bad thing. It keeps the obnoxious FPS bros out.
Also, I wouldn't doubt the difficulty of the games push some people away.

Game is not hard in the difficulty sense. I play Insurgency. Isonzo's issues are your bullets don't hit and them adding in Call of Duty style arty strikes even if it would make no logic on how you could "call" in an arty strike in WW1.

Game is a mess and has strayed away too far from the dev's original goals. I've switched to Battlefield 1 at this point.
