I float in the $6,000 range nowadays.

I used to sit around $12k, but I've restricted myself to 2 cards out of 5.

Usually like $1000-$1500 every month, but I pay it off in full >_> But a good chunk of that is actually business expenses for work that I get reimbursed for too. I put it on my card so I can get the points lol

$1200ish. I used to pay all charges off every month, but realized it was better for my credit to carry a small balance, and just never miss payments.

While I've never quite been 'up to my eyeballs', I've definitely rode on the hamster wheel of paying on a card just to be able to live off of what I opened up with the payment. For way too long.

I was on a long shift a couple week ago and I paid someone to order doordash.

I don't get how people pay $20 for something that costs like $8 <_<

Like, I like my time but I'm not paying over double just cause I want to be lazy.

I have a credit card I use for all my monthly purchases like food and gas. I pay it off each month. It's usually around $600 by the end of the month. I have never once paid a penny on interest on a credit card my entire life and I'm a couple months shy of 48. I treat it like cash.

Some of y'all take this way too seriously lol. Treat it like a debit card and only buy what you would've paid for with debit anyways. Set up autopay to pay off the balance monthly and you're basically all set.

I have zero debt. I mostly just use my credit card for paying bills and I pay it off in full every month.

For online purchases I usually use Paypal which is linked to my bank account. I sometimes get drunk and spend more money than I mean to and will have little to no spending money for the next couple weeks, but I don't spend money that I don't have.

Don't be too avoidant of credit cards. You'll want to build credit if you ever want to be approved for car loans, mortgages, or renting.

It's also a useful tool for unexpected big expenses like repairs or medical needs. So long as you pay at least the minimum on the card each month and don't go over your credit limit, you can break up a large emergency expense into smaller, more manageable pieces without breaking the bank.

They're also safer than debit cards for online shopping since credit isn't money you have, rather money you agree to pay back. So if someone steals your credit card information and makes a bunch of purchases with it, you can take more effective action through your credit card company to remove those expenses, report the card stolen, and deactivate it without as many hoops to jump through as with a bank.

This is a myth the debt industry wants everyone to believe. I've bought three houses from three lenders and rented two apartments all without ever opening a CC.

Some of those were with a cosigner, others with programs like FHA, still more just because of connections that you could have made as easily as I did.

Sure, my first apartment was with a cosigner (a parent) and that's normal. That's an entryway to building credit as well. And after the first instance it's easier to be approved since you have that new credit in your name.

Credit cards are one of the more accessible ways of building credit, which is why they're recommended. Not everyone has access to a willing cosigner and it can be incredibly financially risky for that person since they're assuming all responsibility if you cannot make the payment. That's why it's usually family that does it.
