Mods are more like mystery cheese tho. Sometimes you get gouda, sometimes you get garbage.

Mods, especially mods for games like Skyrim, sometimes like to break because they don't play well together.
Virtually everyone I have ever known to play modded Skyrim has had to deal with this.
I don't play that garbage tho so I don't have to worry about it.

What do you want them to do, reinvent the wheel? Using libraries and frameworks is basic programming.

This.

Granted, I dont really have any desire to play a Bethesda game for the last decade, but Ive got 25 mods running for Cyberpunk 2077 right now, no issues whatsoever and theyve made for a better experience.

Mod Organizer, which youre supposed to use for Bethesda game, has much more sophisticated ways of recognizing conflicts and overriding mod order etc.

Even without knowing how to use a mod manager, pretty much any decent mod will tell you which major mods it's not compatible with. Big-name mods are designed to be as compatible as possible with each other, and tend to have patches.

But I guess if you prefer having a massive bugfest instead of a few minutes of reading, be my guest.

Barely any in comparison, as they can never support script extenders for security reasons, which most mods depend on. Not to mention that a year or two after release, they simply arent powerful enough to run 2500 mods or so.
