Yea. She wrote the song so ofc she got the award in that example.

Also, Dolly Parton won awards such as the Soul Train Music award for Song of the Year for the Whitney Houston version of "I Will Always Love You" from 1994, which Parton wrote in 1973. She wrote it, so in some instances she was presented awards for the song (although not always depending on how the category is structured).
