No. Final Fantasy is dead to me. Was pretty much my favorite series to me in the pre-merger Squaresoft days. But not anymore. The last mainline title I bought was XV and I couldnt bring myself to finish. XVI didnt interest me and I was never interested in a remake of VII even though the original is one of my favorite games ever.

The only modern FF I truly enjoyed was World of Final Fantasy. It felt like an actual FF game. If they made another title like that Id buy it. But not like the mainline games.

I'm sorta on the fence. I loved 90% of FFVIIR but the ending was bad in a way that casts doubt on their ability to actually write a compelling story.

No. I thought FF7R was going to be a straight up remake. I had never played any FF games and was looking to enjoy the legendary FF7 in a modern package, but was was disappointed to hear the story had been changed from the original plot (not just drawn out) after already purchasing the game.

biggest bummer ever, didn't finish and no longer have any interest in the rest of 7 remake.

Nope. In the latest Famitsu (well known gaming magazine in Japan) interview, Nomura mentioned that the first draft of part 3's story is done, but there's still a lot of work to be done. No timeframes given yet, so it will likely be a few years out.

Also, this is my initial opinion too.

Was looking super forward to FF7R to experience the story, but learning it was just a chopped up pseudo-sequel trilogy instead made me lose all interest. Promoting it as an actual remake was a dick move.

But now that I've played the original FF7 and know the real story, I feel like I'm qualified to delve into this new fanfic version of the story.
