It seems likely that TC is twisting a reasonable position like "There is no credible evidence for your claim, so I'm not going to take your word for it unless you bring some real evidence to the table." into the drivel of the OP.

There is a difference. One is asking to be educated when ignorant of what others are talking about and the other is flat out denying what others are claiming because they themselves have never been exposed to what others are claiming. Have you never seen anyone ever acted out the latter? And if not do you believe such people exist?

Of course there's a difference. But weren't you one of the people arguing for existence of the paranormal in that tire fire topic from a few days ago? My apologies if I've misremembered.

I'm not sure if narcissistic is the right word for it. I'd wager its probably one of the logical fallacies though.

And yes. The argument of the OP is the argument from personal incredulity, one of the more narcissistic of the informal fallacies.

It could depend on the context. Like your personal first hand exp vs someone else's.

For example someone whose lived in a city their entire life but have never seen or heard of any sort of gangs, or gang related violence there in a augment with some whose never been to your city arguing otherwise based on second or third hand knowledge.
