Most Metroid games give you visual cues in the environment that something might be off. And Power Bombs are screen-wide nukes that reveal all destructible blocks in the environment.

Metroid Prime already lets you scan the environment so there's no need to shoot at every wall there, lol.

My complaints were less about prime and more about Fusion. My issue with Prime is that the backtracking would make Banjoe Tooie blush

I'm suddenly reminded of when Jirard the Completionist played Fusion on his Super Beard Bros channel and got incredibly stuck to the point he thought he'd been hardlocked by a glitch or something in that area where it locks you in and you just have to power bomb the wall.

Yeah, I replayed it on the Switch recently and while I still absolutely love it, there's a couple instances where backtracking got pretty bad. A situation where modern game design with warp points kinda highlighted this stuff. A really bad beginner's trap is heading into the Sunken Frigate before getting the appropriate gear, considering where the maps lead you.

But yeah, Fusion gives you a crapton of Power Bombs to work with so that game expects you to spam them in order to find stuff, lol.

Holy shit, I remember doing this. IIRC, you basically get to the bottom, find a locked door, and then have to travel all the way back up with the wonky movement?

I think I remember a few odd spots in Fusion, but not really any required ones for Dread and Zero Mission. And Super Metroid of course gives you the X-Ray.

I like all the subtle clues in Super Metroid to power bomb the maridia tunnel
