Pretty sure its word of mouth but something the developers again never corrected or clarified. Which is why people bringing up other games taking inspiration kinda fail to realize since they will sometimes credit the source inspirations.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people see player base as important. The company exists to make money. They do that by selling copies. They don't care if you play it, or for how long.

We'd all be better off if we stopped caring about these companies and how many people play their games.

Because again those games either admitted their sources and have evolved so much differently versus the original source or they are different enough that they only compare on a surface level. And while it was mentioned the Palworld developers said they had inspiration from Ark have they ever said the same for creature designs based around Pokmon? Because that seems like a bit of an overbite in terms of where inspiration comes from and citing where you sourced you ideas from.

they fucked themselves imo. instead of calling it early access they should have just said it was done. sure it's a bit lacking but with the massive payday they just got, they could have taken that huge pool of money and dedicated it 100% to palworld 2, which would then be a complete game with fleshed out towns, a complete story, voice acting, improved battling, the works.

to be clear they're still in a pretty good spot, it's just now they're going to be expected to keep polishing and upgrading and adding content to pals 1 when it would serve them better to just start making the next game at this point.

No because Digimon is its own thing thats not based on Pokmon. Its literally Tamagotchi for boys. Even its games and media is formatted so differently from character design and plots.

Well, contrary to popular belief, Digimon actually didn't come first; many believe that the Tamagotchi-like toys that launched the Digimon came first, but they actually hit stores about a year after the first Pokmon games, Red and Green, came out. This is to say that, since Pokmon came first, Digimon was the one that "copied" the "Mon" suffix.

Digimon became "its own thing" because it was given time to develop into one. Just like palworld.

The concept for our Palworld originated from the thought, Would it be possible to add monster collecting elements to the open-world survival craft genre? And, although we did reference the Pokmon series as a great predecessor of its genre, Palworld feels completely different as a game, which I think people will realize as soon as they play it. I would even say that Palworld is a lot more similar to ARK: Survival Evolved in terms of game mechanics.

They do not say X pal was based on Y Pokemon if that's what you're looking for but they made it clear Pokemon was the main frame of reference for the game. Without the Pokemon gimmick this game would have just been Craftopia 2.
