No but it'd be cool as fuck if they did. Living in the suburbs I always thought legends of cryptids and whatnot were ridiculous, but a single trip to the dense forests made me understand why some people adhere the supernatural to reality. Have you ever heard an elk call in the dead silent, middle of the night? Downright chilling.

The mythological creature known as skinwalkers are basically just a name for shapeshifters, fwiw. They're peaceful and reserved and take animal form to evade predators or to just live in nature and do their thing.
The modern incarnation that impersonates people, abducts or kidnaps people, etc like a doppelganger is very lame and started trending from a few media circles. The first being rabbit trails from Missing 411 conspiracy theories, the second with analog horror -- namely Gemini Home Entertainment and Local58 -- and third from Skinwalker Ranch, which is just a grift. These modern variants are no different than Slenderman in terms of fiction scaling, but have hijacked the name of a previously known myth.
