They were never going to win in a war of attrition. US warned Ukraine of this tactic a year ago. They couldn't adopt to the strategies the US wanted. Not sure where the war is going as I've not kept track.

There is no assistance they can provide that will matter outside of direct intervention and boots on the ground. They could give Ukraine a trillion dollars and it wouldn't matter because Ukraine will run out of soldiers.

Ukraine's one and only chance is that Russia suddenly collapses.

At the very least, Russia wouldn't be giving back all the territory they took. Which would make it an exact copy of the winter war against finland. Or what they did in Georgia in 2008. Or Crimea in 2014.

Russia's general MO seems to be starting a war and then just throwing an infinite amount of trash resources into a meat grinder until the other country just can't tolerate it anymore and gives up some small portion of their territory.

Yeah, the sheer weight if Russia's numbers was always going to tell if things drug out.

Ukraine punished Russia's early mistakes hard. Even their first major counter-offensive was very effective. Problem is that, after that, Russia changed strategies. Originally they were pushing forward everywhere, no matter the cost. This allowed the Ukrainians to hit the Russians when they over extended and hurt them, badly.

The new strategy is more conservative, pushing slowly, and grinding down Ukraine's ability defend, let alone marshal men and material for counterattacks.

Obviously foreign aid should continue, and my view is still that the Ukrainians should not negotiate while a single Russian soldier is still on their soil, including Crimea. But I'm not the one fighting, and it's not my home being destroyed, or my friends and family being killed. I'll trust the Ukrainians to decide when it's time to negotiate.

The most important thing to remember here is what the Russians have already done in areas they've occupied. If the entirety of Ukraine falls under the Russians, the whole country will look like what you saw in the aftermath of Bucha. They invaded with mobile crematoria for the purpose of killing people and disposing of the bodies, and that was before the Ukrainians made the entire Russian army look like a fucking joke. Ukrainians will be murdered by the train load if Russia wins here.

Under NATO own ruling. No one can officially join if they are currently engaged in warfare. Russia will stay in war times for this reason alone.

That also brings up the challenge of what to do even if Russia is forced to withdraw. There are a lot of new homeowners in russian-controlled parts of Ukraine and a lot of property that has since been forcefully reallocated to people who may or may not still be alive. Then you have the fact that for the entire duration of this war some areas have been exclusively teaching children Russian history and Russian language and requiring the use of Russian currency. It's going to take a while to deprogram these regions and get everything back into a central currency. And much like Russia has done in every other country, during that entire period they will be screaming and screeching about how ethnic Russians are being mistreated while they actively push money and weapons into that area to maintain instability for as long as possible.

make peace now, and we'll see "The second Russo-Ukrainian war" in a few years
just like they did with Chechnya

and remember Dzhokhar Dudayev, then president of Chechnya when he made a phone call to Moscow to set up peace treaty negotiations. the Russians tracked his signal and used that to send a missile in his face

As for the topic idk what they can do about getting more bodies for the fight. Maybe put out ads across the world or something?

  • "Exhausted Ukraine struggles to find new men for front line"
  • "Ukrainian officials stole about $40 million meant for the purchase of ammunition"
  • "Zelensky showing 'authoritarian traits', says Swiss intelligence report"
  • "21,000 Wagner mercenaries killed in Ukraine says Zelensky" (where you questioned the accuracy of the numbers)
  • "I feel like there is going to be nuclear war soon"
  • "Would you go on an all expense paid trip to Moscow"
  • "So uh... why do we never talk about Ukrainian war crimes?"

Exhausted Ukraine struggles to find new men for front line

By "men" do they mean specifically males or humans? If they're being gender-specific, why? Let the women fight. It's the 21st century, wherein women can do anything men can do and better. Let them go win the war with the might of girl power. All of our movies, television shows, and video games keep putting women in front as mighty, courageous warriors. Let them do it for real.
