More games from developers? With more advanced graphics and tech means much longer dev times hence why this gen is so empty.

Abso-fucking-lutely. Hell, I'd be okay with downgrading back to PS3/360 levels if games wouldn't take 5-10 years to develop.

It can stop at ps5 series x levels. Eventually such graphics would be easier and cheaper to make.

We have seen more or less no gameplay innovations for like a decade now. It's just about graphics. Kind of sad. Gaming went from gameplay to cinematic experience.

And even the graphics are going the wrong way. Instead of making 120 framerates the standard, they're pushing higher resolution for marketing purposes.

I grew up on Atari. I'm definitely ok with the level of graphics we have resolution wise. All i ever said was improve loading times and improve framerate and I'm legit ok with PS4 level graphics resolution wise.

I'd much rather see like an 18 month to 2 year development cycle from major franchises I like rather than waiting 5+ years or even a decade+ in some cases.

I don't care too much for the graphics. I do love higher frame rates though. I will always choose higher frames over making some grass prettier.

This.

As a switch owner, looking forward to Switch 2, I wouldn't mind with PS4 graphics +.

I kinda wish PC gaming cards took more time to release cards as well.

'No'

1) Because I already know the reason we don't get as many games as we did in the Ps1/Ps2 era and the blame is on the suits, not exactly the developers or the tech.

2) I would fine with the graphic levels staying the same if it meant the games were 'complete' at launch and didn't come with so much dlc.

I actually enjoy looking at pretty graphics. The only reason why id play an aaa title is too look at them.. i don't even complete them most of the time since they aren't engaging enough for me tbh.

I want games to be indistinguishable to real life before graphics progress is stopped.

But idk if ill live long enough to see it

Also for me peak gameplay is dmc 3 ubisoft style mechanical input (allows for pure mash. W/ cancels the Character moves as fast as the player mashes) + enemies that are aggressive af (far more than what dmc games offer). This is peak gameplay for sure but ik this will never happen so idgaf anymore!!!!

Of course. Honestly realistic graphics has had diminishing returns for a long time for me. Don't get me wrong stuff like red dead redemption 2 and last of us 2 looks good for sure, but it hasn't straight up "wow'd" me like that......the last time I actually felt this way about realistic graphics was when I first seen the xbox 360 version of king kong's fur, lol. Art styles is what impresses me the most. Stuff like ori, going for a stylish pixel look like river city girls, cuphead and it's old-school cartoon aesthetic, scarlet nexus and its real pretty lookin' cel-shaded art style etc., this is what I go for.

I am a part of the gaming community who actually does not constantly complain about cross-gen console games still being a thing.

You got the people who will say things like "well if these games are cross-gen, then that does not give you a reason to own a newer console like the PS5 and xbox series s/x", but from my point of view I am enjoying much, much better performance with the native PS5/series s or x versions of these cross-gen games. Better performance across the board without needing to build a pricier PC for it is very much worth it to me, and has been from day 1/PS5 launch.

Also I am more impressed by developers who is trying new things when newer console technology becomes available to them compared to just focusing on hyper realistic graphics with the same ol' gameplay. Remember how awesome it was when the very first dead rising released on the xbox 360? Capcom took newer technology and tried to see how many zombies they can cram unto the screen with better AI for the enemies, and had everything in the game operating on a in-game time schedule....the kind of thing that was hard to do (but not impossible. After all even castlevania 2 on the NES did the time thing. Doing it real well however...) on the previous consoles. The same kinda' mob thing dynasty warriors 2 played around with when the PS2 first came out, and stuff that left 4 dead, days gone (I did like their massive enemy numbers attempt, but the AI for the zombies definitely suffered here) and world war z messed around with.

When we got the native PS5 and xbox series upgrade for world war z stuff like them attempting to push that zombie count up even more was awesome to me. Same with devil may cry 4 special edition and devil may cry 5 special edition's legendary dark knight mode.

Yeah, games can stay at that PS4/xbox one graphics level baseline for as long as they want imo. I want to see more of those huge enemy numbers but at the same time those numbers not having basic AI. I want to see more hi-fi rush type art styles but having that smooth performance since its not the type of game that is pushing for bestest most realist graphics, etc.

(This also really benefits PC gaming since you can get so much more life out of older GPUs).

Video games are never going to look better than PS4 anyway.

They'll do a bunch more ugly/nonsense bullshit like depth of field and raytracing, but they won't actually make anything look better.

I want shorter games with worse graphics made by developers who are paid more to work less and I'm not kidding

(seriously though I think the right amount of stylization can make a game stand out way more than absurd budgets spent on photorealism.)

Tbh I feel like devs chasing visual fidelity is crazy, they should prioritize art style over it. What good is an amazingly beautiful world if it's as deep as a puddle?
