It's just a lot of mozzarela, tomato and basil

No. It's delicious. Pizza with too many toppings gets kinda cluttered and can't really taste any one thing. Two toppings is like the max imo.

Basil is a topping on a margherita pizza.

It's a alternative to a basic cheese pizza that some places try to make it seem more fancy than it really is.

bottom tier pizza
almost as bad as bbq sauce pizza

If the dough is good and the ingredients fresh a margherita is amazing.

Just don't cook the basil in the oven, put it on fresh afterwards.

I got one yesterday, we have a brick oven pizza truck that comes a couple times a month. It's not my favorite but it's good.

Depends on the quality of the pizza. A proper Neopolitan style pizza made in a proper pizza oven with quality tomato, basil, and buffalo mozzarella can't be beat.

The crap from your generic pizza chain, yeah it's not gonna be good and needs other toppings.

I think you may have confused Margherita with Margarita.

Edit: on the off chance that you're talking about using bufala, that's still mozzarella.

It's nice enough.

Add more cheese and it's still margherita

A fresh, well-made margherita pizza from a good Italian place is delicious.

A frozen/store bought/takeaway chain margherita pizza is pretty dull.

That comparison is pretty dumb. The 30 minutes or less thing died out in the 90s, you chose your own toppings, and nobody is going to dominoes or any other chain for quality.

as someone who's been to italy and had authentic margherita pizza many times, again, if you put mozzarella on it, you've ruined it, it's no longer a margherita and honestly it's pretty gross, as heated mozzarella becomes more rubbery and dramatically changes flavor

bruh, I feel like most people in my country eat either cheese, pepperoni, or maybe sausage. By comparison, margherita isnt boring (unless you personally overeat it).

the problem with pizza margherita for your average pizza eater is that #1) it has an incredibly narrow flavor profile that relies on a) the sauce and b) the basil b/c your average dough/mozzarella doesn't have much flavor at all and #2) unless youre using atypical dough or baking at atypical temperatures, it has virtually no texture beyond "soft" and possibly "chewy"

and like i'm not saying that's a bad thing, but ppl in most countries that eat pizza consider it an entree , and what pizza margherita invariably ends up being is not something satisfying and would greatly benefit from the addition of virtually any other topping

my favorite personally is roasted garlic

its like the most basic ass pizza ever.

but it still hits the spot so i aint complaining... lol
