That shows you how much times have changed in the last 30-40 years.

Malls used to be THE hangout spot for teens

My mall did that a couple years ago. And what happened was the stores that appealed to young people, those with the most disposable incomes, ending up leaving. Leaving the main box anchor stores like jc penny and macys that are already on their way out.

I love how ppl always complain about kids just being on thier screens. But there are fewer and fewer places for them to go.

Must suck being a teenager nowadays.
You don't really have as much of your own space as you used to, you just kind of get thrown into the internet with everyone else.
And that's not even accounting for how crazy everyone is online or the 2-3 years they lost out on.

America is ass backwards, unfortunately. It's not like this in Europe.

Pretty sure most malls around me are like that.

I've heard several different malls/stores do this. Are problems with teens really that bad to warrant this?

Pretty much. Can't play and explore the neighborhood because parents are too scared and certain people being petty jerks about people walking up and down the street, can't go to the mall, several other different hang out spots closing down (arcades, skating rinks, some parks) or having strict entry requirements. I sound like a boomer right now, but I'm glad I grew up when I did.

Online shopping is to blame.

My local McDonald's has to shut early at 7pm because of youths causing problems in the area.

There's a rumour going round that a store that's on the other side from McD's that has since closed, is being turned into a nightclub. That's a recipe for disaster.
