like i'm playing classic WOW SOD and the amount of time it takes to get from point A to point B is insane. Just got my mount and it really makes you appreciate it after spending to much time on foot. If flightpaths weren't in the game it would be even slower.

That scenario sounds like good gameplay

If the exploration makes up for the fact, then sure. I loved exploring Hyrule in BotW and the sky, Hyrule, and the Depths in TotK.

But in general? No. Walking everywhere in the Pokemon games (until you got a bike or running shoes) was awfully slow and boring.

Single player: Everyone should have as much freedom of choice to play the game however they want.

Multiplayer: Everyone has the freedom to play whatever game they want. If you don't like classic WoW's feature set, just play retail or another version of classic.

Currently Playing: FFXIV, TES games, Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Overwatch, Forza Horizon 5, Pokemon, and various random Gamepass games.

absolutely not. if you absolutely must give me a fuck-off size world, you better at least give me some damn good options to get around or we're done lol i am not wasting chunks of my life hoofing it through procedurally generated terrain at the speed of a normal human being for no reason

"but we put herbs along the way for you to collect and there are some enem-"

you made it even more tedious? and you thought that was the answer? lol

If the map isn't huge, then it's not too bad.

But if it's a large map and there's no vehicles/mounts, then it definitely needs fast travel. Being forced to run everywhere on a huge map just sounds tedious for the sake of being tedious.

Yeah it feels like a bunch of filler taking 15-30 minutes to walk from 1 location to another for no good reason. Like waiting on a bus commute

Witcher 3: Big-ass world done right (with the notable exception of those fucking forced Dandelion recaps).

Dragon Age: Inquisition: Big-ass world done wrong in every single way.

That was one thing I hated about old Maplestory. Getting around took forever. Like if you needed to travel to another continent, you needed to wait for an airship. It was a 10 minute flight and it took off once every 15 minutes. So if you just missed one, well too bad, now you won't reach your destination for at least another 25 minutes. Like I don't care if it's realistic to have to wait for the transportation, it was boring as hell lol

Yeah, god, hated waiting for those ships. Plus if you weren't a Thief or Magician, walking anywhere at all sucked and taxis were too expensive. And there were some maps that were just complete dead ends, so if you were exploring and ended up in one, and you didn't have a town map, you had to either die or make the trek all the way back, and no one realistically wanted the exp loss from death.

I don't mind traveling to a new place for the first time, but there should be vehicles to speed it up at some point and options for fast traveling back later on.

also, don't make run speed based on a stamina system.
