We have a lot of small towns around here in my area of the Midwest that have their own meat lockers that make top tier summer sausage. Far better than the national brand stuff in grocery stores.

Pretty sure every American has gotten one of those gift boxes of summer sausage and cheese for Christmas. That replaced fruitcake as the default American Christmas present decades ago
