I should try the minimap in the field. Tracker is kind of a pain in the ass because it's hard to see the cardinal directions.

OK yeah that is making this much better for me. It was honestly bringing the game down a lot for me, but after changing to minimap....and enlarging the minimap...and LOCKING the minimap, because it defaults to the spinning minimap which is EXCLUSIVELY USED BY PSYCHOS, I'm finally in the groove.

Btw you can cycle through your preset parties on the field by bringing up the X menu. So you can swap with two button presses at any time. No need to keep going into the Combat Menu unless you wanna edit your presets.

No it's available from the start. Just hit R1/L1 to switch between your three presets.

Also I'm surprised at how much Queen's Blood has hooked me. I ignored it completely at first, but the tournament activated my competitive side so I buckled down and really got the hang of it. Now I destroy every opponent I come across it's wonderful.

Fort Condor has yet to click, where do I get more powerful units?

I only just hit chapter 4 so prolly early on but I have been swapping my party and my leader constantly. I def prefer Tifa and Red but they managed to make every char fun which is great. In Remake I basically stayed on Tifa the entire time but in this game its way more fun to swap constantly. I haven't seen any footage but I'm hoping whenever I do find Yuffie that she's nerfed heavily from Integrade because otherwise I'll feel very guilty for not using her the whole time lol

Yeah, most fights just aren't long enough to trigger it. I think the Auto-Unique Ability Materia you get from Chadley helps though.

It's taken me over 14 hours to 100% the first open-world area. This is gonna be like a 70 hour first run.

Also, I'm still not 100% sure what Dynamic difficulty is, but I'm enjoying bosses not being total pushovers. I was worried Normal wouldn't be quite enough for veterans of the first game, and this appears to have solved that.

Hard to put into words how much the Chadley tutorials helped get me into the groove for this game. I really wasn't feeling it, but for some reason it cleared my head.

Also glad I advanced enough to unlock the Ubisoft Towers before the map filling brainworms fully rooted in.

If you skip that demo section the game REALLY starts out muddy, totally ruins the initial flow. Finally escaped it though.

Also regarding the difficulty (I'm on dynamic) and combat systems like synergy. It took me like 10 hours to finally get used to everything, but it finally clicked against one of the sidequest mini bosses. When you have synergy stacked up, a summon going, and leveled limit breaks up it feels so satisfying to unload on an enemy. But it's A Lot.

I was worried for a while though because when I did the White Terror fight I kept getting my ass kicked. Did anyone figure this guy out? The game says you can pressure him with attacking and blocking but it was just not working and I kept getting blasted by his special move. In the end I brute forced a DPS race with Cloud/Tifa/Red but it still didn't seem like I was doing the fight correctly.

Yeah it was that guy. Literally the first sidequest I did and I probably spent 30 minutes banging my head against that wall instead of doing other stuff to level up like a normal person. But I did it!!!

Also that. I'm in the last third of the game and I've been rushing through it the last 20 hours. I spent like 6+ hours in the grasslands and I'm like "uhhhh yeah I gotta speed this up"

Not that I don't want to explore and do all the things but...

I want to be able to use twitter again.

And I have a friend I'm gonna stream another playthrough to later, which I can just take my time on.

I won that fight first try by abusing reds vengeance mode. It was a close fight though he was definitely the hardest enemy at that point in the game. But anyone who isn't abusing status effects you can just vengeance your way to victory usually. The healing on his claw attack once that mode is active is just too much

Yeah I had to turn the volume down on that one, she was really annoying while I was in combat as well, complaining that I haven't beaten the monsters yet when I just started fighting!

That was the worst side quest until I found the actual worst one (probably), slowly leading chickens back to their pen. Just awful.

What minigame?
It's on the third region. The a new version of the Wall Market gym minigame from Remake. One of the inputs is now to hold L2 or R2 halfway to build a gauge, then press it all the way down when it fills. I don't know if you can actually turn it off for that.
