Not necessarily for 2 hour movies but longer movies should have them. The original reason for phasing them out was to get more showings in per day but when studios are releasing films that are 3+ hours long they're not prioritizing number of showings anyway. Just add a 10 minute intermission for people to use the bathroom, refill their drinks, check their phones, etc before settling in for the rest of the movie.

If movies are gonna be 3 hours now, they really should.

Yeah, the main reason I did not see Killers of the Flower Moon is I dont want to sit through a three and a half hour movie. At three hours, Oppenheimer was too long.

One of the reasons I don't like going to the theater is that I can't pause the movie. An intermission would help.

I went to this Indian movie back in 2019 (Gully Boy), and it had an intermission, which I thought was cool.

it was about 2 1/2 hours.

I always go to the bathroom before a movie.

I do too but if I'm drinking a soda I can't sit through a 3 hour movie without needing a bathroom break.

Gods and Generals is the only theatrical presentation I've seen with an intermission. It was cool--the intermission, at least.

I think the reason they don't do it is because they're worried about people sneaking in during the intermission.

I don't think someone waiting in the lobby would be able to know that the people leaving the show room would be going back into it. And they would still have to get past the ticket-taker. Further still, they would call attention to themselves if they sat in the lobby for two hours waiting for people to leave the showroom so that they could slip in with the group. It would be easier to just pay for a movie than to sit in the lobby for an hour and a half for two hours and steal the last half of it.

If somebody wants to steal on principle alone, they'll find a way to do it.

I can understand a bathroom break for the people drinking down large drinks but I had to laugh at check phone. If you cant make it through a movie without checking your phone, even a longer movie you have some issues.
