Just once.

Was at a company about 14 years, around year 11 new incompetent management took over, basically the entire department but me quit (only reason I stayed was because I wanted to keep my work situation consistent while I was doing immigration paperwork). They eventually filled all the open positions, but enough time passed and the department still hadnt recovered and was actually even worse because the people they hired sucked and/or were trained poorly by the incompetent management. Eventually upper management reviewed the entire departments work and saw that I was head and shoulders above everyone else, and instead of saying Yeah, hes carrying the whole department, thank God for him, it was the opposite because their bosses were basically like why can he do that much and no one else can? which exposes how terrible they are as managers, so instead they pivoted to no, everyone elses metrics are normal, he must be cheating or doing something wrong! So they proceeded to nitpick me and try to catch me doing ANYTHING wrong and try to pile as much work on me as possible to finally make me look like everyone else, but I still stayed caught up and immaculate. By this time I was job hunting anyway because fuck those pieces of shit. However an auditor job for our department opened up and I applied and they were fucking terrified that id objectively expose how horrible they are so they pulled me into a room and said we reviewed your work and youre not following the guidelines and we have zero tolerance for that so were terminating you effective immediately. to which I said my audits have been perfect for years, what evidence do you have of this? and they just said there were instances where you couldve done more and I said such as??? and they just sat there like little mice while the HR lady said we dont want this to drag on. At that point I fucking obliterated them all verbally as they sat in silence and I stormed off like youll all be following me soon because this department is fucking bleeding, I wish you the best of luck because holy fucking shit youre gonna need it.

If I didnt have a wife and kid I wouldve sued the shit out of them, but I just wanted to move on and let that cesspool rot.

I got fired from a restaurant because I got a $400 tip one time on one of those digital check out kiosks and I didn't tell them explicitly that I got a large tip, just handed in my books and dipped. Apparently the customer called a few days later saying they made a mistake and didn't mean to tip $400 and meant to tip $60, which didn't make sense to me. The company tried to take the money back from me and I told them no so they fired me on the spot. Hated that job anyway lol

no but I got demoted once and had my hours cut for bullshit reasons

had a new job 3 days later and quit with no notice. I got a termination letter in the mail like 6 weeks later

Not fired technically, but asked to resign after whistleblowing.

I was lazy and also couldn't keep up with the workload, especially after I stopped coming in on weekends.

I got put on the PIP on my last job. Gave my 2 weeks notice in that meeting and found a job the same week which is going well

It was a large party, $1500~ check. $400 made more sense than $60. Also I'm pretty sure the company broke the law in asking me for my tips back but I tried going through the proper channels and nothing came of it. Still kept that $400 tho

Gave my two weeks and got fired instantly, I enjoyed my time off

Fired from every job I worked.

First job was at an engineering firm started there in 05. Was a top tier employee, held records for the most amount of samples done in a day and my test results were always dead on. Then 2008 hit and housing development went to a stand still which was 90% of the work I did there. Over the next 4 or so years they just kept cutting my hours more and more then in 2012 work was pretty much dried up and they had no cause to fire me workwise, they did however know I had a medical marijuana license which they had been fine with for years but if you need an excuse to fire someone you'll use what you can. Forced me to get a drug test then fired me.

Second job engineering firm. Same as before top tier employee but this time I totaled my car on the way to work. Happened when I had plans to move to Canada just 6 months later so I didn't want to buy a car since I wasnt going to be able to pay for it after the move so I bought a Corolla for 500 bucks. It broke down constantly so I was late to work a lot. Fired a month before my move to Canada lol.

Third time worked at a car wash. First job in Canada just trying to get my foot in the door. Place was owned and run by crackheads I was the only one with a drivers license so I moved all the cars. They would always rush us too much and the vacumers would forget to shut a door and when I pulled in the bay door would get nailed. Happened twice... maybe don't scream at me that I need to move at lightning speed so I have a second to look around. Only lasted 3 months there.

Thats when I got my current job as a mechanic. Havent been fired yet but Im 6 years in so prolly wont be long lol

Once for something I didnt even do.

A girl lied to management and said I hit her when all I did was call her a bitch.

Got fired from the first trucking company I worked for. Had 3 minor accidents there that gave me the boot, totally my fault. All but one of the incidents were on my record so it didnt affect my hiring prospects yet. But I screwed up again for the next which did.

Had to do other things for a year until my record cleared but Ive been accident free coming to 2 years now on my third trucking job.

Farmers Insurance: Data entry job (temp)

• Our job was auditing auto insurance policies. Farmers Insurance agents were giving people defensive driving discounts when they hadn't taken defensive driving. So we were auditing all of the insurance policies and removing the discount if the defensive driving certificate hadn't been uploaded. They wanted us to process 120 records per day. I typed about 95wpm back then. Once I got used to navigating the system, I was able to do about 400 records per day if I really tried. The job was mind numbingly boring, though. I would hit 200 records by lunch time. Then in the afternoon, I slowed down a ton and started playing games on the internet. They fired me for that.

Dell: Material Handler (temp)

• My job was to make sure the parts used by the people building PCs were always stocked up so that they could keep building all day without having to stop. They didn't let people bring cameras into the factory. I had a Treo 650, which was one of the first phones that also had a camera. They let me bring it in since it was my phone. The hours were 5am - 3:30pm. I was also working another job on the side, so I was frequently very sleepy at this job. We had done well in production one quarter and Michael Dell came to speak to us. I remember a bunch of us were standing around Michael Dell while he was talking. A couple people were walking in circles around him and taking pictures as he talked. I was sleepy as hell in this moment. I figured since they were taking pictures, I could take out my phone and take a picture of him. One of the managers came and snatched my phone out of my hand. I was confused because those other people were taking pictures. The manager pointed out the fact that they had camera passes. They gave my phone to security. A few minutes later, security came back with my phone. They said they couldn't figure out how to turn the phone on in order to delete the picture, so they wanted me to do it. I did it. They fired me for that incident.

Service Coordinator position for a mental health agency. One of our clients needed a higher level of care, he was a danger to himself, his roommates and the community. Dude had been banned from almost every business in town for violent behavior, literally every night he would threaten to kill his roommates and trash his room. This guy had a TBI and ID, mentally he was about 7 years old. His roommates had a plan to kill him and straight up told me they'd rather be in jail because at least they could sleep. Part of my job was to determine if someone is not showing progress (he wasn't, he couldn't with his level of functioning) and if not to eject then from the program or HLoC them (move to higher level of care, typically a mental institution).
My boss loved the guy, and would give him candy and treats when he acted up, so fucking obviously he learned bad behavior = candy and attention from the pretty lady. Eventually our regional manager asked me wtf is going on (she saw the daily incident reports I had to file). I was straight with her and said he goes or I go. The prog director isn't letting me do my job and someone is going to get killed, period. I don't need a death on my conscience nor the possibility of legal trouble for not discharging him. She said he would be in a care facility by the end of the month and made good on that promise.

My boss was pissed. My workload doubled, she told my direct supervisor not to help me anymore (which was literally her job) and the bullshit writeups started. Eventually fired, and I gave her a piece of my mind on the way out. Called her a coward, told her she has no business in the field if she can't put her emotions aside and do what is right for the other 4 people in the home who's recovery was being destroyed by this guy. Also called out the fact how in the fuck is she able to look herself in the mirror, and what business does she have passing judgement on and teaching what a healthy relationship is to our clients when her gang banger husband is in jail for literal bank robbery and murder. I believe the last thing I said was something to the effect of "you're a goofy ass irresponsible bitch and you need to check yourself into one of our homes until you get your shitshow of a life together. And your husband is never, ever getting out of jail, and we all laugh at and pity you for having such little self esteem that you think you can't do any better. You're pretty, young, and I thought you were smart, but here we are. Hope you don't get anybody killed since your priority is smuggling contraband into the prison so your husband throws you some dick once a month and not the people under our care who actually HAVE a shot at a normal life again. See ya."

No I have left every job on my terms

Yes, when I was at DQ. If you saw the topic on bad managers I talked about the owners. My wife and I both worked there and got fired the same time. In fact the owner just told me to tell her she was gone too. He tried to say it was because of money stolen from the safe (like I said in the other topic I didn't have a way into the safe and he knew that). I think it was because we had too much power there together and they needed us gone.

Then the owner threatened me to not try to get unemployment because he would say and do whatever he had to to prevent it. My in-laws were like fuck that get your unemployment. It took a couple phone hearings but we both got it, and used it until I got my current job where I've been for 23 years.
