Marchs Games:
Marsupilami: Hoobadventure (PC/Switch/XB1/PS4)
Doors: Paradox (PC/Android/iOS)
and Pizza Tower (PC)

What is Game of the Month Club?
Game of the Month is a community project open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a select few games every month. The games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck)

The Basics
- Each month will usually feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated
- For each game you beat, you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing
- In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month
- If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so
- Drawing for next month's games is usually on the 25th
- If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will obviously think you are super awesome!

Nomination Rules
- You get one nomination automatically each month
- You receive additional nominations each month for every featured game that you beat
- Each game you nominate has to be unique from all other nominations and cannot include a game that has already been selected for GotM
- Each game must be a standalone game that can be acquired and played on its own (aka cannot be DLC/expansion that requires the base game)
- Nominations only carry over if you beat a featured game after the drawing for next month's games but before the end of the month
- You also have the option of supporting 1 game each month. Your only limitation is that you can't support your own nomination.

Stop tempting me to buy more games!

Doors: Paradox was free on Epic Game Store a few weeks ago, so people might already have that in their collection.

Oh, Doors: Paradox is a The Room-like...

I started playing on PC and all I can think is that this was really designed for touch screens. It all feels a little finicky with the mouse.

I beat the first world in Marsupilami. It has the vibes and kinetic energy of the Rayman Origins/Legends games and the look and feel of the Retro-era DKC games. It's not on the same level as those, but it's a good time so far.

Midway through Chapter 3. Gotten all the gems but somehow missed the scroll on a few stages. This is a game perfectly suited to playing while watching Youtube videos. It doesn't take much brain power and, if you get stuck, there's a hint system.

KCF has beaten Marsupilami

Some of those late optional levels and challenges snuck up on me. I think about 75% of my deaths in the game occurred in Hide and Spike.

This was a very good game. I will probably do the extra world. I do wish it were more like than Rayman than the recent DKC games though and also that targeting rings wasn't so finicky.

I played the first 20 levels of Doors: Paradox. Works great on Steam Deck even via EGS and using the touch screen is definitely the way to go.

It's cute so far but the mini-room concept feels pretty played out already, I'm not sure how they make this work for another 38 levels. Most escape rooms I've done have several big puzzles that you need to solve smaller puzzles to find components or clues for, but most levels in this game aren't expansive enough for a big puzzle. So the gameplay experience feels more like just doing a bunch of tiny puzzles than really working through a room. Some levels handle it better than others, obviously. I do appreciate the lack of long-winded notes so far, many games of this style can't resist adding them.

It never really evolves beyond what you've seen. The "bonus" levels for collecting all the red gems and blue gems are slightly more complicated but nothing major.

About halfway through the main game of Marsupilami.

Yeah, this is way better than I expected it would be! Controls really well. Very, very easy so far though. You can absolutely see the influences of Rayman and DKC but I'd also say a little bit of Sonic and Crash too.

I've got, I think, 5 levels left in Doors: Paradox.

Still enjoying it somewhat but I've managed to seemingly softlock myself twice now by de-syncing puzzles somehow. One time I managed to replicate the glitch to sync the puzzle back up (unless it was intended but it definitely felt like a glitch -- the level is 2-17 for reference), the second time I had to reset the level. If you're struggling with something that seems unworkable I recommend just resetting the level and seeing if that helps.

Kenri has beaten Doors: Paradox

I think I'd say chapter 2 was a low-point; I liked chapter 3 much more so I'm coming away from this game with feelings towards it that lean positive. There were a handful of puzzles that were glitchy or just obnoxiously designed, but overall it did a good job translating the escape room experience into bite-sized chunks.

I've been whittling away at Doors. And by whittling, I mean really whittling. I think I've had three sessions, and I've beaten cleared 3-5 puzzles each time. They've been getting good mileage/variety out of the basic framework of the two-sided puzzles.

I've also been working on Pizza Tower. I've been having to fight my urges to run all the time since it keeps getting me into trouble. I had a level that I cleared with less than 20 seconds left (and I'm aware that doesn't trigger until you reach the Moai statues, or whatever they are), so I guess that reaching that point sends me into a little panic. There's also a lot of breakable stuff, secret or intentional obstacle, that simply running will clear, so I do feel a little enabled with my reckless approach.
