I'd like to go, but the tickets are nearly $2k just to fly there.

And add in the need for lodging, food, etc.

Did your cousin ask you personally to come or was an invitation for all the family?

Destination weddings are a big ask tbh. I've been to two and while they've been great it feels like a huge waste of money on a vacation that's dedicated to one specific thing.

You could theoretically convince yourself to go by making it a vacation. Go to the wedding in Spain, spend a day in Portugal etc.... It doesn't all have to be about the wedding

Destination weddings are a lot of fun and you can plan a vacation around them too, but they're also pretty pricey >_> I've been to 2 and had a great time but they definitely aren't for everyone

Yeah, I have a wedding in Cabo and London this year. Then next year, one in Hawaii and probably somewhere in Mexico.

Insane

destination weddings are a way to weed out a lot of would-be guests and make it more intimate, without the shame of not inviting people close to you

So it should be like that it wouldn't matter if you went, plus I guess they're expecting you to pay for everything, If was personal for your cousin to you I expect that they would pay for the trip.
