Been a fan since year 1.

To quote my post from the anime topic: Man this sucks.

I love RT. They give me more content than any other streaming platform. I have so much in my watch list on the site I'll just never get to now.

At least it sounds like the podcasts will continue. But most of the people don't do enough for that to be a full time job, so who knows how that will work out

I was more or less finished with RT after Ray left and Red vs Blue finished the Chorus Trilogy, then all the awful behind the scenes stuff happened.

I heard they were gonna do a farewell season of RvB with a lot of the original cast, is that still happening?

Man rip. Went downhill for awhile but the older stuff was fun. Wonder if that RvB true finale is still happening as that'd be a nice top off at least if its over.

Also curious what is going to happen to RWBY

The head of RT mentioned it in his announcement in a way that made it seem like he expects it to be released.

But who knows. I think it was all recorded at least.

Nope. Burnie retired a few years ago and his family moved to Australia.

They actually just started a podcast called Morning Somewhere.

Oh and Burnie did write the last season of RvB and is voicing Church again. Assuming it ever comes out.

I mean, I think we probably shouldn't overlook that as fondly as we remember Rooster Teeth, as a company they were extremely poorly run and had quite a few internal issues that should have been dealt with far better. They also made some extremely poor choices with franchises and ideas (Gen:Lock) when they had legitimate work with a major star like Michael B. Jordan.

I know it's easy to say WBD is screwing up here, but what return was Rooster Teeth actually giving them at this point? Their mistake was selling out the company in the first place.

I'll always have great memories of Rooster Teeth, but there was enough bad there that I get why it ended this way. Hoping for the best for the creators and employees there though.

RWBY has been an enormous part of my life for the past year, and this is so incredibly upsetting.

They let go of all their animators once work on the last volume and two movies was complete - it was very unlikely to get finished in house.

Saw an article saying they were trying to sell it (+ other IPs like RvB), so maybe it'll get picked up somewhere but "who knows"

RT as a company has been fumbling for pretty much 10 years straight. Not sure when they were bought by WB but I don't think it changed much.

I kinda lost all respect and want to watch RT when they talked shit about Jeff Gerstmann for not being hot on Fallout 4, basically calling him a sell out going with the flow, meanwhile they were wearing the Pipboys that came with the Deluxe Edition during it lol.

Yeah hopefully the continuation of podcasting is enough to keep Face Jam and F**kFace going.

I still watch Jeremy and Matt on twitch a decent amount, not so much Ray lately, but it's awesome when they all do crossover content from time to time.

If the podcasting isn't enough to support themselves then maybe we'll see Michael on twitch more now.

Michael and Lindsey at least have the potential to get voice work.

Honestly, some of the story decisions past few seasons have been really baffling and have p clearly been ways to move it along to different regions even if they don't make sense. I wouldn't mind a diff storyteller taking over.

Rip. Not surprised, but am disappointed.

It was obvious that they were trying to bite off way more than they could chew with rwby after season 3 and they handled a ton of things very poorly.

Would be interesting to see how different RWBY would have been if we never lost Monty

Not at all surprised, as they've been circling the drain for a while now. What was surprising though was finding out that they haven't been profitable for the last decade. Like, I knew they must be bleeding money, but I didn't realise they had been doing it for that long.

Funhaus was the only RT thing I still watched, which, while it wasn't as good as it used to be, was still pretty solid, so sad to see them go, at least.

RWBY is bigger now than it was when Cross Tag came out.

Cross Tag was actually coming off of RWBY at it's absolute lowest!

RIP. I'm not terribly surprised, but still very disappointed. I've watched a lot of RT content over the years, gonna miss them. I sincerely hope they don't chuck there entire backlog into the nether, I'd hope they could keep it archived. There was a lot of good stuff exclusive to the site.

Seconding this as well. Although the Let's Play rebrand they did last year was a real breath of fresh air, it felt like the gaming stuff had hit a nice new groove.

RIP though I haven't watched anything they've done in years.
I hope RWBY does get picked up by someone and they finish it. I'd like to see a conclusion some day, even if it's not ideal.

I hope they stay open enough to get to the anniversary on April 1st.

Would be great if they could end on an all day stream on that day. Invite (almost) anyone who has worked with the company to come on and take a bow. Play some games, talk about their favorite moments, etc.

Sounds like there is a good severance package for everyone at least.

Where are you hearing about the podcasts? Anything specific on which ones?

There have been some people posting things on social media emphasizing that the Roost is the background production company not the podcasts on it.

And F**kFace put out a statement saying its 'an end but not our end', which I'm reading as FFace the brand is done but they guys will continue under another name/platform.

So just speculation

I cried just reading that, there's no shot I can watch the VOD :(

I feel like the only properties I can see being successfully sold off/kept running as is are RWBY and Death Battle.

DB seems like it should be fine. Massive viewer/subscriber count, a separate successful revenue stream with its youtube memberships. If any property was in the black I would bet on DB.

If only someone could trick WB to selling most the rights/archives back to the founders for cheap.

Welp. As someone who is a fan of RWBY and despite how it had gone downhill I do want to see a conclusion to it. Also, I definitely expect for Death Battle to survive on it's own
