Was the show itself, I think I would have been 9-10 at the time? My friend showed me this new show that was really cool on Toonami and I was hooked on the spot. Also helped they had Gundam Wing right after. It's the reason I'm a weeb today.

I watched one of the Raditz episodes on some early morning cartoon slot on ABC or UPN or something. Before Toonami syndicated it. It was awesome.

Back in middle school, I had a friend who was into it. First episode i watched was in the middle of the Frieza saga. iirc, it was the episode where Vegeta first teams up with Krillin and Gohan.

I was at an anime convention, a few years before the US English dub, and people were watching bootlegs of it.

Sometime in the early 90s. There was a short lived dub of the first season of Dragon Ball by Harmony Gold (the same shit company that turned Macross into Robotech). Later I wanted to see more and also play Dragon Quest V (not released in the US), so I started learning Japanese. Toriyama literally changed my life since I now live and work in Japan and never would have learned Japanese without Dragon Ball and Dragon Quest.

My mother liked DragonBall Z and watched it. Therefore she ended making me like it.

I don't have the same fondness for it anymore, but it was my childhood along with Naruto, One Piece and Bleach.

I had a Dragon Power on NES as a kid. I didn't know about Dragon Ball until years later when I read about it various game magazines, and then I caught a couple of episodes of DBZ when it was syndicated. But it came on at 5 in the morning, so I never watched it until Toonami.

There was a videogame magazine called Super Power that had a manga/anime section.
One issue had a screenshot of Goku and Raditz being killed with the text "normally a series would end here, but this is just the beginning".
I thought aint this spoilers?

Randomly channel surfing as a kid in the 90s and seeing Goku and Piccolo fighting Raditz. My first anime and I was hooked ever since. I remember it went up to the end of the Frieza saga and I had to wait like a year for the next saga to release on Toonami.

Im not sure exactly but I was pretty young. Maybe 5th grade-ish which wouldve been around 2000-2001.

Don't really remember, but I know it must have been Toonami. I watched some episodes as a kid when I could and liked it enough.

Didn't really get into it until I was older, though, since my mom is an evangelical nut and this was the kind of thing she didn't let me watch.

I just remember it coming on after an episode of Sailor Moon and I was like oooh cool let's watch this too.

It was around 2002/2003. I was around 26/27 years old and dating a woman who had a young son who watched it. I didnt know anything about it but watched a few episodes of DBZ with them in the afternoon on Cartoon Network over the course of a week or two and got hooked.

Ended up watching it on my own from that point forward then shortly after DBZ they also replayed the original Dragon Ball and I watched and liked that too but I still prefer DBZ.

So I became a fan in probably a much different way than most on this board since I was already in my mid to upper 20s and watched DBZ first.

Probably some anime block on the sci fi channel back in the 90s.

I saw a good deal of random anime back then on that channel.
