arent these typified by repeated exposure to modify behavior?

im more speaking along the lines of one thing being tied to a specific memory because it was something you coincidentally were experiencing when that memory was formed

Afaik the term is 'associative memory' TC. In your mind you connects the song with the movie's ending. Not exactly conflation but more like association between unrelated items. You can google the term for more details. Here's another example:
1.) You embarrased yourself in public.
2.) At the same time you saw your friend laugh at you.
3.) As a result your mind connects your friend's face with that particular incident all the time.

In psychology, associative memory is defined as the ability to learn and remember the relationship between unrelated items.
