I kept getting drift on all the PS5 controllers I had. So I traded in 3 of them plus a defective PS4 controller & that was more than 100$. Then a few games I was done with covered the whole 200$ controller, I only had to pay tax. So if anyone wants to get a more permanent controller for your PS5, game stop is surprisingly the best place to get one if you have things to trade in & get rid of

fair play. Ive got the OG PS5 controller and the boyfriend bought me an extra one so he could play too. Definitely helps though when one of us is playing a solo game and the one dies. We just grab the spare, plug in the one and keep going.

Yeah I kept a spare PS5 dualsense I have because if my steel series doesn't get recognized on the PC, I can still use that red one that hasn't had the drift set in yet. Being able to put Hal effect joysticks in the Edge is big though, because I can adjust for deadzone for the sticks that come with it, or replace entirely later for a mere 10$-20$.

I checked around for weeks trying to find another comparable good controller that was compatible with both, but either it's 250$+ for a razer controller, or stuff that doesn't have the changeable joysticks & features for 180$ & stuff

Yeah I'm already really impressed with it. I spent the better part of a day or two looking online for the best controller possible for a similar price point. None of them seemed worth it or had drawbacks that I would consider really annoying.

Imho the Dualsense edge is the best cost: function controller available if you have a PS5/PC to use it with

I don't know what you traded in, but I guarantee that they robbed you. A little more effort with an eBay listing would have netted you a lot more, I'm sure.

It looks like a dualsense to me i just Google it. I'm guessing it has extra buttons somewhere,?

To sell 3 PS5 controllers that I used & had drift +1 PS4 controller that didn't charge well? Not really honestly, they were all a year older each, & the games were nothing special. Witcher 3 wild hunt, an atelier ryza game someone got me that I didn't want two years ago, & three other games like such. 200$ for all of that is pretty great all things considered, considering on eBay I'd have to set up a shoppers account, make a PayPal to tie it to, start the listings, then get it for bidding instead of buy it now.
Then make sure the person pays, then handle the shipping & packing costs & the time it would take to handle all that. I used to sell things on eBay & oftentimes it was more hassle than it was worth.

It has swappable analog sticks with HAL effect, adjustable sensitivities & dead zone, extra back bumpers on the back of the controller if I want a different control scheme, remappable buttons for any game that I can play, control over how much I have to press in the triggers, customizable profiles on a per game basis etc etc. Believe me when I say this, but I did pretty hard research for me & my GF for a better long-term game controller, & with the options the Edge has if you can do trade-ins or something like I did; I think it's the best on the market.

I gave Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout several tries, but the game would actually put me to sleep & Ryza is cute & all; but her being a waifu isn't enough to deal with the combat & crafting systems.

it's crazy how expensive controllers are getting for sony consoles. I've been using nacon controllers for my ps4 for ages, and always thought of them as a budget brand...but their ps5 controller is like $300 lol

same with the dual sense edge, I know it adds a lot of value (esp cus it seems like dual sense needs replacing as fast as switch joy cons), but still... $200 for a controller? insane.
I miss the days that you could manage with a $10 madcatz or rockcandy controller and be done with it lol

speaking of which, do fully wired controllers even exist anymore? my nacon ps4 controller is wired only, I have one with a detachable cable and one with a permanent cable. it'd be so cool if there was some sort of universal USB standard for wired controllers, so that I could just plug in anything into a console and it would work.

I have never had drift on any controller I own. Its weird how much I hear people complain about it in joycons and controllers. I expected it to happen way more often to me.

There's a lot of fully wired controllers out there still yeah. Razer & Xbox & Steel series to name a few still have some that can be only wired, or a cable or Bluetooth dongle.
I would have maybe done a Razer, but I'm not paying 200$+ for a controller that can only be used wired honestly. Nacon was a brand I also looked at but yeah their high end controller was I think the most expensive on the market that I looked at, no way could I justify it because it would be cash/credit only.

For my laptop when I play FFXIV I use an old rock candy yeah that I got like 6+ years ago. You can tell it's cheaper quality & kinda stiff & such, but it doesn't need to be high end for a game that old.

It's probably because they planned to release an updated Dualsense 5 later this year or next I think. While personally I like the 5 more than the 4, the Dualsense 4 never had these issues. One of the controllers I traded in was the original controller that came with my PS4 from 7+ years ago, & then I only had one other PS4 controller besides that.

I usually put my controllers through the ringer with what I play, but the Dualsense 5 really do seem to break down more frequently than the 4. The joycons are obviously dog shit for the switch as well, but the pro controller solves that so long as I can stand it up or display it on something & that's only 80$ I think right?
