Seems like most people say it wasnt as good as the first game, and it kind of just came and went.

Some people suspect it was a financial flop due to its supposedly insane budget.

Critically though, it isn't a flop. It was generally liked by most players and critics.

It wasn't a flop, it just wasn't as good as the first and felt a way bit rushed in a few places, still sold alot of copies, Also it didn't help that 2023 was stacked with good game releases

I dont know or care to know the sales figures or budget.

It was a bit shit though.

I think Spider-Man 1 and MM were better games tbh.

It seems like it spends more of its time being another Spider-Man rather than trying to break the mold. The first game was great because it was the first excellent Spider-Man in awhile and had a great narrative.

I haven't gone too far into the game yet but there's a lot going on right after the prologue and I'm having trouble finding my footing. It doesn't help that there's a lot of games out and I can't just focus on it.

2023 was just a stacked year overall, with the acclaimed Baldurs Gate 3 basically being a home name.

It needed to sell over 7 million to make a profit and it has sold over 10 million. It isn't a financial flop either.

I think it doesn't help that the game is a single player game and not just single player but a short one(even to 100% it) Its going to just slowly fade into the background since it'll reach the end of its fifteen minutes of fame real quick. I am sure it'll be talked about more in the grand scheme of things but as of modern games it'll be in the background while new games come out.

I loved it. Better than Spider-Man 1 and Miles Morales imo. Boss fights were better, switching between Peter and Miles was seamless and fun, the Black Suit was great and the MJ levels were much less of a chore than in Spider-Man 1. Not sure why people were hating on the game.

I think most people that hate the game hate it because it isn't really innovative (similar to how TOTK is derivative of BOTW) OR they hate it because they are stuck in the culture wars and consider it an evil "woke" game.

Really good game, the parts with Bruce Campbell are hilarious, still a fun play even all these years later...

While it didnt bother me in the least, it was very noticeable that EVERY good guy character other that Peter, MJ, The Osbornes, and JJJ were all minorities.

The first game came out at the perfect moment in time for a Spider-Man game. In between Infinity War and Endgame (Peak hype height of the MCU), separated with a decent amount of time since the last truly well beloved SM game, and demanded attention by being different enough to turn heads.

The second game kind of released at a middling/bad time. Marvel fatigue setting in, following the coat tails of massively successful games like BG3 and it wasn't different enough to demand everybody turn their heads.

It did nothing wrong, per se, just did things safe, and suffered a bit from things outside of its control.

PC release when?

If it's considered a flop, it's because the budget of games is way too high moreso than lack of sales/attention. It allegedly cost 300 million or so to make and that's just ridiculous if true.

Nah. We have a new Spider-Man 2 now

I think 2 is worse than 1 and MM because the story moves so fast that a lot of what happens doesn't have time to breathe and develop properly. Story is overall weaker because of it and the game is way shorter than the first one for no reason.

It sold a lot, but

A. A fair number were via bundles, and I'm not quite sure how the breakdown is in terms of where the profit goes with bundles
B. It cost a SHITLOAD of money
C. They also obviously got a fair amount of money from Adidas given the shitty Miles Morales outfit and the other product placement

So probably not in terms of finances? Kraven was, is, and always will be a lame villain and that is no different in this game though.

I technically bought it because of gameshare but it will take quite some time before I can play another open world collectathon. Is it as bad as in 1, Horizon and Tsushima?

It wasn't meant to be a "mic drop".

But pretty much every secondary/side story character who nationality wasn't already established in past comics was a minority.

Most of the photo ops, the blind lady with the "monster", the lost grandpa, the grafitti, pretty much every one involving one of Mile's classmates, Homeless Howard.

Like I said, it didn't bother me in the least. It's New York City, the most diverse city in the world, so it makes perfect sense. But the woke police are going to look for any reason to complain.

I didn't care about the races, but I dislike all of Miles' side quests being so fucking twee.

I hate people who want drastic changes in a game in a series. WHY even bother playing a game in a series if you expect it to be vastly different from the previous games?!?!??!

His side quests were the cringiest shit ever. If he was going to take over as spiderman I would have liked to see him actually helping the neighbourhood, not primarily his school.

I know Peter got that part but still.

To be fair, the name of the game is quite literally "Marvel's Spider-Man 2." I would think TC would have just said Spider-man 2 for the Tobey movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for the Andrew Garfield movie, or Far From Home for the Tom Holland movie. Not sure what game you were thinking of though.

It's been a thing since forever, yeah.

I remember in FF7 finding it surreal AF that when the world is ending in like two weeks, we decide to go sightseeing in Japan, and like, the NPCs are all there panicking about the world ending, and we're still just like yeah, Yuffie's martial arts tournament is important too I guess.

Nope.

Spiderman 2 will definitely sell more when it hits PC. FF16 sold like crazy but it was considered a disappointment to Square (they remind me of stereotypical high expectation asian parents going "okay, butt y u no A+?"), don't know if Sony is like that with their titles or not though.

The recent games have all had "Marvel's" in the title. Like Marvel's Avengers and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. I don't know if it's why they do it, but that does help separate them from the movies.
