i was watching House of Ninjas on Netflix the other day and it got me thinking about playing a game where you can play as a stealthy ninja and shit...

sure you could mention Ninja Gaiden but its more of a hack and slash type game.

and i know Tenchu exists even tho i never played any of them but as far as i know, there hasnt been a game in the series for years...

so i would like to know what options are available for modern consoles and PC these days.

I heartily recommend Mark of the Ninja. Even if you're not specifically into ninja, it perfected 2D stealth.

+1. So few games actually get stealth right. This one does.

Tons of replay value and different playstyles with the outfits you can unlock. Path of Nightmares was my favorite, made me feel like a horror movie villain.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is pretty good but it's a top down tactics style rather than like Tenchu. I do wish there were more Tenchu style games.

Yeah this one came out awhile back but it's awesome and runs on modern platforms. I think they even remastered it.

Visually it's like a Metroid, but the gameplay is all based on stealth and line-of-sight

Aragami is a neat, though obviously low budget, stealth game where you can teleport between shadows. There's a more refined sequel, but I haven't played it.

Shadow Tactics is one of the very rare Real Time Tactical Stealth titles, though you are controlling between 2-5 people at any given time, and technically, one of them is just a very stealthy samurai.

Mark of the Ninja is probably considered old by now, but by visuals and controls I'd still consider it modern. Of all ninja games I've played, this one probably puts the most emphasis on being stealthy.
