Nope, but I am going to wait and see what it does to the price of the base model.

I'll buy it when it comes out. Only reason I don't currently own a PS5.

I really don't see the pro being worth whatever price tag they put on it.

It's 90% of the way to a PS6. All that effort and they left the CPU cores intact.

also if feels like this gen hasnt even gotten started. Its dumb to try and push console gaming to just being a worse version of PC gaming with incremental upgrades

I've already got a PS5. I don't think I'll get the Pro. Don't think the boost is worth the extra money.

I just bought a slim last week, so most likely not.

It's a very beefy upgrade. Some of the specs and benchmarks are absolutely insane. That AI accelerator is doing a lot of work.

Maybe when the ps6 drops.

This had been the most skippable Gen ever

I have little to no reason to buy a PS5. I have even less reason to buy a more expensive PS5.

Shit you can barely tell the difference between some PS4 and PS5 versions of games

weve definitely reached the point of diminishing returns

won't be getting a pro, but I may get a slim when the pro releases if there's a price drop

If I do ever get a PS5 I'll probably get the Pro model, but I don't plan to get one.

Not worth it for me. I only play exclusives on my PS5 and those run fine on the base PS5

Yes, because it's a step towards proper path tracing.

Buying a PS5 Pro when I already have a PS5 seems kinda silly, but if the Pro has greater external HD availability I might have to get it.

The one feature that the XBox Series X has that the PS5 doesn't is the ability to use multiple external HDs up to 16TB.

Are you over of those "Ray tracing is just a fad" people? Sorry to tell you, but it's as much of a fad as the Internet is (people used to call the Internet a fad).

Ray tracing has been around for a long time. But it's only recently that gpus have become powerful enough to utilize it in real time. It makes realistic lighting and reflections so much easier for developers, so the stronger hardware gets, the more they're going to rely on it. It's not going anywhere.

That's how I see it right now.

"Console gaming is cheaper!" People say, but if you don't want to be stuck with poor performance you drop 300-400 on a launch console, 500 on the enhanced version.

I have a 7 year old PC I built for just under 800 and had just barely begun to show any signs of age really, and still likely has a few years before I really need to do anything to keep up. Been a better investment than either of the base consoles.

Ray tracing has yet to impress me in any regard, so that doesn't matter to me.

I don't have a PS5 yet, so I guess so?

all those bells and whistles take more man-hours to implement for things barely anyone notices, at a certain point they gotta ask, is it really worth it?

From the sounds of things, the ray tracing makes it easier (not harder) to do certian things.

Also - the other advantage is that the more powerful hardware is, the less effort needs to be put into optimization. AAA games that push the machine to its limits will still need to optimize; but indie developers can focus on making their game the way they want instead of worrying about how powerful the system is and optimizing to stay within that.

probably won't get one. i've played a couple of ps5/console exclusives. not worth a whole ass purchase for a slight upgrade.

Really makes me wonder what the PS6 is going to be at this point.

A Zen4 monster that beats the Pro or just the original?

Seeing it's only 3 times faster than base PS5, that isn't enough for me to buy one. Has to be at the very least 5 times better.

I personally don't if it effects a game's performance too much, but there ain't shit I can do if the developers force it on us with no in-game option to turn it off and then this decision ends up kicking a game's performance in the balls like with gotham knights and final fantasy 16.

If devs are going to be forcing ray-tracing on us mainly console players, even more so when more big budget unreal engine 5 games start coming out (because lets be real, devs will eventually fall into the old habit of prioritizing the eyecandy over everything else, so more always on ray-tracing), then I'd at least prefer a more capable console that can deal with all of that malarkey better, so yeah I am considering the PS5 pro. Might not be day 1 (still trying to see if they will actually increase the so-so hardwired internal SSD storage etc.), but time will tell or whatever.

nope. i skipped the ps4 pro. small number of games will run better on the pro but the original is still gonna play everything. i seen a rumor of 2026 for the ps6 which would be 6 years which is their standard except ps3-ps4 was 7 years and ps4-ps5 was 7 years. so i'm hoping they keep that up or push it to 8 years. 2028 for the ps6 would be nice. would mean 4 years of the pro instead of just 2 years. ps4 pro was around for 4 years.

I might depending on the price, I got a series x for $350 and Im happy with that as their new model isnt upgrading specs (at least based on the info I saw and its ditching the disc drive)

This would be a decent reason to get a ps5 if Im feeling final fantasy withdrawal or want to play demon souls. (have a non pro ps4)

ps5 has pretty much just been a play-ps4-games-better machine for me, not giving sony anymore of my money. espcially with literally nothing 1st party coming out the entire fucking year.
