not having two days off in a row would kinda suck, but getting paid for 40 hours on 28 hours of work sounds amazing. 60 hours of PTO kinda sucks though, i get five weeks (200 hours) of just vacation.

28 hours a week.
Job pays like 40 hours a week.

You get paid for the additional 12 hours for free.

Do the math.

I don't understand the "pays like 40 hours/week" part. I think. I mean is that saying you're getting paid full time despite being part time or what?

If I were retired or straight out of high school and was just looking for a part time thing to keep busy then sure I might go for that.

Getting some weekdays off regularly would be nice for avoiding crowds but it'll be tougher to coordinate activities with friends who work regular 9-5s. Plus not getting 2 days off in a row kinda sucks.

The PTO is over a week less than I currently get (and I am on the low end of the totem pole as I am still fairly new to my current job and receive the least PTO/year possible). But you wouldn't have to take as many days especially if you plan things around the 3 day week. I'm honestly not sure if that's a deal breaker or not.

For example, if you make $30/hour, on a 40-hour work week, you make $1200/week. With the 28-hour work week, you'd still earn $1200/week. So it's actually $42.86/hour.

I see. Shit I'd take it now then.

oh and my response to the question in the OP heavily depends on the salary offered. i dont care how good the hours are, if the pay is below my means there's no way i'd take the job

Come to think of it you would get a few double days off for holidays assuming they give you the nearest work day off, like getting Monday off if the holiday is on a Sunday. And if you get both Thanksgiving Day and the day after off, do they move those around to potentially give you up to 4 days off in a row without using PTO?

No, that looks awful. Not having consecutive days off would stink.

I did once work a four ten-hour shift job that gave three consecutive days off each week, and that was nice back when I was single.

---
Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

Likely no. I would rather work 3-5 days in a row and have the occasional 2 day weekend like I do now.

Union job, 70 hours/2 weeks, and roughly 120 hours of PTO that carries over year to year (I currently have over 200 on the books despite taking a full 2 weeks the last 2 years plus lots of other individual days).

If the pay was good enough and I didn't hate the job, maybe for a year or two.
