Classic top-down grid bomberman is a lot of fun and will hold up forever when it comes to multiplayer. The N64 games are also great IMO, as well as one or two GameCube games.

There's a Batman game for PC Engine/TG-16 that is a Bomberman rip-off that is so much fun. It also uses a bunch of the music from the NES Batman game too.

I haven't played a Bomberman game in years, but I liked them as a kid. That one GBA game that was kind of like an RPG/2D Zelda was great. I'll see if I can find the name.

It's a pretty enjoyable series with an easy to understand gameplay loop though most of the games get a little boring after a while. Saturn Bomberman is the best game in the series.
