I fucking hated it. All the tests were just did you memorize years or dates. I spent 8 years learning about the revolutionary war and a touch of slavery. Shit sucked.

Public schooling, but never really felt shafted in math or English, but history/social studies was consistently garbage. I learned so much more about American history through wikipedia diving years after high school.

I thought I hated American history because of the school system in this country over teaches it compared to the rest of the world and once middle school was over I had the most of it down pat. The way US history was taught in high school was super boring, we had to get to the Civil War by Thanksgiving and spent forever going over the Gilded Age. My experience in school with world history wasn't much better. In 6th grade we covered western antiquity and nothing else. My 9th grade teacher had a teaching style that I loathed even though she wasn't a bad person or anything. 10th grade was better.

Even now the way I see history is skewed by the education system as I find the history of the Americas easier to comprehend than the old world. With some countries and regions it seems like the borders are in constant flux and the people in them constantly changing from one ethnic group to the next.

probably my weakest subject, but getting older and seeing how relevant something you might have learned back in school can still be, can be interesting.

I love history, but most everything I've learned I've had to do so on my own. Most of the stuff I was taught in school was more or less just wrong, and most of the teachers were coaches who were teaching history on the side because it was easy and didn't require them to put in enough effort that it would distract them from their coaching.

Easily my best subject. Wouldn't go as far as to say I liked the class but when I'm good at something I typically don't hate it.

Literally made 100s on every assignment and test in a grading period once.

Dropped out of high-school my senior year (due to just being an all around shit hole of a school) went to adult high school and on day one of a class you took a test in you made 100 they just gave you a A for the whole class and you didn't have to take the. 90-99 you just had to complete a few assignments based on what questions you got wrong.

Made 100 on 2 history classes and made a 95 on I think government and a 90 something on economics.

So being good at it in public school paid off.

I got bored very quickly just learning about the revolution, civil war, ww2, and civil rights every year. I've gotten much more interested in history since leaving school.

I tended to enjoy it, but I didnt have strong feelings about it. Not one of my favorite subjects (math & science), not one of my least favorite subjects (English). Somewhere in the middle.

Always was an A+ student in it while the rest of my grades were Cs,-Ds, and Fs. Love history. It was the only class where I'd voluntarily raise my hand to answer a question.

Sad to see how it's so hated.

Yeah I'm mad I didn't get to finish world history. Moved from a state that was teaching it in my grade level to another that taught it earlier
