I don't have access to 3.5 or any of the lords of madness or other resources that can make things really spooky. 5e is disastrously small on the outer gods and eldritch abominations of old flavors, but I've been tasked by a group of six to DM the next campaign in our rotation. I've done Tomb of Annihilation and other starter one-offs for the group before, and they really like my style, so they want me to cook up a story.

How would you theme it in 5e? It's the edition I know, squarely, the least about. How would you guys tackle it? Happy to brainstorm some ideas.

Ravenloft is the Horror setting for D&D

The original module was released a few months before Castlevania and I've always kinda wondered if Castlevania was based off it.

The 5e version of it is Curse of Strahd

It says right here in Matthew 16:4 "Jesus doth not need a giant Mecha."
