I'm not a comic book guy, but I don't see the Heath Ledger Joker as being a notably different interpretation either. I know someone's gonna come in with a bunch of extra knowledge, and I'm sorry, but if you were to ask a random person on the street they would not be able to make any meaningful distinction between the various Jokers.

All that said, Heath Ledger's portrayal of The Joker, and everything surrounding it is an iconic enough part of film history, that I think it's fine to put on the Rushmore. I disagree that it fits within "the rules," but I think the rules can be bent in this case.

Yeah, I'm not going to nitpick too much because it's absolutely an iconic movie villain performance that'd be worthy of Rushmore without the rule.

I think Heath Ledger Joker is a very specific interpretation of Joker that is Joker adjacent enough that it feels very Joker but is distinct enough to be "from the movie." On the flip side I would call Mark Hamill a great performance of Joker but closer to what a standard Joker from the comics looks like

Thanos I know a bit less about but I've heard of other fans describing him similarly to Wang

Thanos in the comics was basically a dude super upset that a skeleton with breasts was ignoring him so he got the infinity gauntlet to impress her, only to find there was nothing he could do and him becoming more powerful didn't matter. Death just plain didn't want to get into a romantic relationship with him and was into Deadpool instead. Killing half the universe was an attempted tribute to show off, the equivalent of a guy buying a girl a new house to impress, but alas, the girl here wanted a cancer ridden jokester who'd show up from time to time. Probably the biggest act of direct rage he had was making sure Deadpool would be immortal, just so that relationship could never happen.

Basically comics Thanos got cucked by Ryan Reynolds so hard the universe exploded.

So it's impressive what MCU did to his character!
