Like first it was just a few comments here and there. You could have chalked it up to second wave feminist not understanding the kids or something. But then she went down the slope.

And now her twitter is literally just that topic. Only that. Nothing else to talk about at all. And it's all day. She's just tweeting all day about it.

How does this happen to a person? Like do you need to give someone a billion dollars and then they go off the fucking deep end?

it really is crazy to see, cuz like, she's an author of a popular YA book series, which got amplified due to the movies. she wasn't ever like, a political figure before. i don't think anyone asked or cared about her opinions on most of this.

then, she started doing like twitter retcons of making characters gay or whatever, i think, at one point, before taking the terf plunge lol. just a wild ride.

She's back to trending because a Jewish reporter yesterday posted on Twitter how they "retract their statement that Rowling is a Holocaust denier", which is pretty clear language to suggest that her legal team threatened libel.

Sooooo it's mega-trending that JK Rowling is a Holocaust denier. Mostly by people who aren't in the UK and not subject to their dumb libel laws.

You have to wonder how Hogwarts is treating trans kids behind the scenes.

I havent looked into Rowling specifically, but other famous people who descend the way Rowling has usually goes through a very specific pipeline.

They begin by making some off the cuff joke about trans people that is extremely bigoted, but due to straight rich person privilege they dont see it that way. Then when they get paid a back by the community, instead of doing self reflection, they see the pushback as the problem. Then a cycle begins of trying to go against the community and the community continuing. To push back until the celebrity thinks that it all there is to the community.

At that point they are gone and cant see the people they are targeting as human anymore. Its now a conspiracy to specifically target them. All because their hubris wouldnt let them do a little self reflection.

Yeah this was the start of it. Then when called out on it, she doubled down and was like "well actually'd" the whole thing.

It would have been one thing if she admitted the mistake, which was clearly based on the idea of denying the trans person she was replying to, but to continue on that line just to prove she isn't wrong is... well it's the classic Internet troll level at this point.

It was a text edit to a right-winger comic, so there is going to inherently be some visual inaccuracies.

None of her opinions seem newly formed to me. I think she's always felt this way, she just used to care enough to keep it to herself.

It was never going to work. I think most people realized that. All the fans who have given up on her, already stopped supporting her. However most fans of the franchise don't care about her personal opinions and you are not going to change their mind.

No. Harry Potter is now timeless, everyone knows about it. If you truly think JK Rowling will ever be more famous for her viewpoints then you need to take a break from the Internet.
