One of the most beautiful animes I've watched. Music had me wanting to tear up constantly lol. Definitely one of my faves recently, maybe all time. And one of the few animes I can say that the MC is my favorite character. Can't wait for a season 2.

I still don't quite get the Ubel cutting the perfect defense cloak guy tho. But I really liked her because of her eyes lol

I liked it well enough. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting based on people hyping it up, and I think I would like it more if it was more about she interacts with the world than how the world interacts with her, but it's not my story.

Definitely though I think it may be a really good show for getting people into anime. Nearly no fanservice, a touch of shounen action, and a pretty laid back pace.

Yeah, this is an early contender for my anime of the year; I seriously enjoyed everything about it, especially since it was just a fun and interesting story with some great characters (Fern's awesome).

Ubel was able to cut through the Invulnerable Cloak because while it had all of these enchantments woven into it, none of that mattered to her; in her mind, it was just made of cloth, and cloth is made to be cut. Because she could visualize herself cutting through the cloak, she could do it with her spell. It's the same reason why Sense said her doppleganger stood no chance against Ubel, despite it having the same amount of magical energy woven into every strand of hair; because to Ubel, it's just hair.

I see. So if she could cut through anything, she was pretty much just playing with Verbal during the 1st round of tests?

I also like how Serie just passes her lmao

Yep yep. And the ending theme is so good. Hit a little extra during the last episode to me for some reason

Its a good show, but it didn't blow me away. Maybe if it had come out in the 2000s when I was a lot more into anime and hadn't seen as much. I'll definitely watch season 2 though.

It's odd because the whole tone of the show I feel like isn't really meant to blow anyone away. Some of the fight scenes and holy shit she's OP moments are cool but I just love how overall calm and serene the show is and I think that's why I love it so much because so many shows nowadays are built on sensory overload loudness.

She only able to cut things that she thinks she can cut.
She's able to cut fabric, hair, and flesh&bones because she knew how to cut one.
She can't cut things like iron, rock, and barriers as easily.
Her thing is that she saw those magically enchanted fabrics and hairs as normal ones.

I absolutely loved it. It's definitely not a show that's meant to blow you away. But I loved how, through following the same path that she did with the hero's party, Frieren starts to realize just how much she actually cared about Himmel and the others.

All of the little moments where it shows a flashback and it just clicks. I loved that. It was both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time, since she's only now realizing all of this after they've already passed. But I love her growth and the effort she's putting in to actually care about people.

Serie is a hypocrite tsundere.

It's odd because the whole tone of the show I feel like isn't really meant to blow anyone away. Some of the fight scenes and holy shit she's OP moments are cool but I just love how overall calm and serene the show is and I think that's why I love it so much because so many shows nowadays are built on sensory overload loudness.

Serie supposed to be way stronger than Frieren and yet Frieren slayed the demon king because of heart not power. That heart being Himmel.
The most powerful spell is the bed full of flowers.

Absolutely loved it. Made me cry a few times, made me cheer, and the animation and fight choreography and all that was fucking amazing

Yeah, it showed that despite her fixation on power, Serie still learned to care about people too. She was just terrible at expressing that. Like how her best student, Lernen, believed that the only way he'd be remembered is by being the mage that killed Frieren. But Serie will remember and miss him.

It's also so well written around the concept of like... yeah, if you can live thousands and thousands of years, it would quintessentially change how you handle relationships and what is "important" to you or not. And Frieren does such an amazing job of examining that.

I didn't mean blow me away in terms of spectacle, I just meant its not going to make a favorites list for me personally. It was a good show with some great moments, some moments I found kind of boring, but generally a pleasant 20 minutes each week.

I really like Frieren as a character, she was easily the strongest part of it for me. There were a couple of times I considered not continuing with it, but I'm glad I stuck it out. Overall, a strong 7/10.
