The long and skinny, my kid's best friend was having a sleepover birthday party but they own pit bulls. The rule is my dog loving kid can't be alone over there without me or the Mrs. present. It has caused some animosity over the last year since they decided what's best for their child is adopting a breed most known for biting children...but anyway but they decided to board the beasts for this party. They were "considering it anyway" but cite my voice behind the tipping point to board them. So thanks to me all the kids in attendance had a safe birthday celebration, mauling free. I feel like I'm making a difference in this world, no matter how small it might be. It feels good!

You can never be too safe and shouldn't compromise on what you consider as safety when it comes to your kids. I won't be allowing my kids to be at homes that have pitbulls.

Good stuff! If people are going to keep breeding them and adopting them, all we can do as parents is educate our kids of the dangers and do our best to keep them away from pits.

No but there are city ordinances about keeping them secured so they cant get out

Pitbulls can actually tear through doors

Little children can stick their arms thru chain link fences too and those pibbles were very nasty animals

I'm pretty sure that rule would apply to all dogs. It's insane in my neighborhood how often there are social media posts about dogs who have gotten out from their houses/yards. Fucking owners need to take some responsibility and stop being so incompetent.

I'm so cautious with my dogs and would never have them in a situation where it's even possible for them to get out.

Now if a stranger comes into my property when I'm not home and the dog does their job and attacks them that is their fault. Kids shouldn't be sticking their arms through fences when they see a dog or hear a dog barking. That's a stupid fucking kid.

I feel sad for the possibility of their dog eventually snapping and "nannying their child to death"

I've worked at a kennel most of my life and interacted with more of these animals in a 10 year span than most of you will in your lives

Part of the issue is that most people are just shit at identifying breeds. A lot of "aggressive Pitbulls" are actually American Bulldogs - which are actually a pretty agressive breed.

The reality is you're far more likely to be bitten by a German Shepherd or a Chihuahua.

Pitbulls are actually fantastic for children, probably one of the best breeds you could get for a kid. Historically that's what they were known for, anti-pitbull shit is revisionism.

It's also mostly coded classism.

No, they were most definitely pitbulls, and they were also very nasty and aggressive pitbulls frothing at the mouth to bite people
