I don't think that is the plan. If you read Timmy's (the Fandom admin's) different posts, it becomes clear that they want Gamefaqs to be a major hub of gaming and gaming-related discussion and debate, while he simultaneously decries debate and discussion that is not related to videogames.

More likely, their plan is to eliminate all non-gaming/non-gaming related social and community boards. This would have the added "benefit" of forcing topicality on every board. I think that the prime example of what they envision what they want Gamefaqs social boards to be is the Nonstop Gaming General.

Board shutdown is more likely though.

Or maybe they bought gamefaqs to run experiments on.

Like I said in the other topic:

I dont feel the social boards feature in Fandoms thinking or plans at all tbh. I feel they are indifferent to them and perhaps just seen as a remnant of another time to them that predates their involvement with the site.

Like any company looking to turn a profit that acquires another business. There are reasons and assets you bought the site for and that you want to keep and there are other aspects that dont really feature into your business plans at all.

Indifference is probably the word Id use to describe fandoms views of the social boards based on what Ive seen. They have a plan to make money from the site and the social boards dont factor into that whatsoever based on my reading of the feedback threads. Its all corporate speak and vague responses. The speech of an owner of the site who wants to make money. Not one who genuinely cares about the history of the site.

Foppe ya remember what it sounds like? All I remember of those games is Fred swinging a club as a weapon and there was a halway decent minigame of basketball. Also the sequel is rare so much so, that people would make pirate carts and try to pass it off as an original.

The more sinister(?) ppl who know it was rare and not the ppl now who try to sell fake sealed graded copies of Super Mario Bros on the NES. I am getting off topic.....

I played the first game so many times.
Some times I started it just because I wanted to play that basket minigame.

I used to rent that game from the grocery store. I remember there was some kind of plant boss you had to throw stuff at. Actually I think the throwing stuff was a power up, some kind of wheel weapon you rolled out.

Gamespot has been dead for about 11 years now and the sad part is they did it to themselves. They removed unions which were basically user created board, removed avatars, removed signatures, and changed forum layout. It caused a mass exodus. The most active board on Gamespot has topic on the front page that were made several days ago,
