Why do people stand for this crap? Trying to suck up to the boss and compete with your co-workers every day. Why do this?

My boss told me it spoke volumes I got promoted to field training officer despite not being apart of the clique. 4 of us promoted at the same time the other 3 where part of it. And only one of them was semi deserving. Only reason I say semi is cause he hadn't worked a regular post in years but at least he knew to do things the right way when he did. --- I put my heart and soul into my work and I fear I have lost my mind in the process ... Eh, I work hard and people don't always like me cause i don't force it. So disagreeing with a manager can happen a bit for me, but I'm very consistent at my job.

I manage a store and there is no drama, thankfully. But I am generally a drama free person. I am not in charge of promotions or anything, but I would not want to reward the person who is the cause of the drama if I had the power. If somebody came to me with some drama bombshell there is a good chance they'd be the one looking like a fool. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I'm definitely a suck up at my office but its because I fear losing my house and what little money I have. My boss appreciates me though so I don't care if others think I'm an ass-kisser.
