Someone tried to explain it earlier, but Im too embarrassed to ask them to elaborate. I know it has something to do with horny posting and this board going private (which will likely kill the board.

But can someone explain this in laymans terms/like Im 5?

Fandom bought GameFAQs in a bundle along with like 9 other sites back in 2022. They have policies again political topics on their forums and are trying to phase it out of GameFAQs. That's the cut and dry version of it >_>

You havent noticed all the complaining about ads and fandom before today? This board has been killing Fandom for a bit now. Its no secret thats why SB Allen left/forced out.

I havent been as active in the board since last Thursday/Friday. Birthday weekend.

I just meant it was strange you hadnt heard of Fandom owning this site before. It was mentioned a lot over the last year. It was a big story when SB Allen stepped down, it was a big story when they started adding ads, and it was a big story recently when the board reverted to read only and shit hit the fan for awhile with glitchy topics.

Fandom was mentioned and complained about a lot before your birthday weekend. Im surprised you hadnt run into knowing they owned gamefaqs yet.

Regardless, this news is horrible.

They didn't buy gamefaqs this weekend. It happened like a year ago

They really don't. The only stuff in the TOS about politics says that a user-run wiki can't organise for a political campaign.

After January 6th a lot of corporate America suddenly got scared about politics. Instead of fighting against fascism they decided to shut down all political discussion, which is what fascists want.

They're privating the board and not allowing new accounts on it, which means the chud trolls who karma farm to 50 so they can shitpost on CE until banned are now a thing of the past.

We all know that on the gaming boards they're going to spam every board with "muh woke blue-haired sjw" and not get modded for it, then other people will get modded for telling them to go away.
