I can cook just fine and I prefer serving more than being served, so this never stood out as anything particularly important to me.

And thats fair. Im not saying everybody should be cooking at Michelin standard. I just think some basic proficiency in the kitchen is necessary to function as an adult unless youre very wealthy.
