There's an Atlus livestream going on right now, which started with a new trailer and release date.

Livestream confirms it's basically Persona 6 but here's some interesting highlights:

• battle system is like kuro no kiseki. you can kill weaker enemies with sword slashes and go into full battles with stronger enemies.
• personas are now archetypes, and these are gained by interacting with people (social links)
• archetypes can be equipped on all the characters, so you can basically customize the party in a number of different ways
• they said that there are story dungeons and quest dungeons. I assume story dungeons are original while quest dungeons could be randomly generated.
• the music slaps

Also time management is still a big part of it. Like Persona, you have a certain number of in-game days to complete main story missions, and all the various things you do and places you go take up time.

Bold claim here, but this game....might.....be really fucking good.

Job System that's tied to the Social Links, sign me the fuck up.

But yeah, this game is unabashedly Persona Gaiden, right down to having assuredly overpriced DLC with costumes from all the other Persoma and SMT games.

I almost feel like the game is maybe a little too stylized for my tastes. The new trailer is like one big visual assault. The actual gameplay segments of the stream were more palatable, though, so I'll probably be fine with it overall.

Jobs tied to social links and the action/turn-based hybrid both sound absolutely genius. To be expected given the team but it also looks stylish as all hell. Definitely really looking forward to this one.

Only question is, get this day 1 or wait for the inevitable Atlus Remake?

They may be moving to the disgustingly overpriced DLC campaign model instead, looking at Reload.

This is how Persona 5 was when it was revealed, and now it looks kinda normal cuz we're used to it

The amount of major jRPGs hitting this year is absolutely staggering, but I'd say this has the best chance at best RPG for sure, and probably for overall GotY too. You never know, though.

Even if they're not, the ultimate question to answer on this is "Is this game going to be good enough, at base, that I wouldn't mind buying it twice (Multiple years apart, and the second having moderately to significantly enhanced content)?"

And, honestly, the track record is good enough that it might be yes. P5 certainly was. P4 too. SMTV was borderline IMO but if the bar for this is "Better than SMTV", then I think this has a good chance of comfortably clearing it

Visually this looks pretty cool. Only thing Im not very fond of is the character designs. I dont really care for any of them that look like party members which makes me sad.

Thats clearly the love child of Aigis and Makoto. Face wise the character I like the most is the unplayable guide. Too bad she isnt human sized and actually a party member

Also allows for a potential actual relationship in the game I suppose.

The game itself looks fun, but the party characters are really uninspired. You have P3MC, Elf Mitsuru, Devil Akihiko, and Fairy Yukari (or maybe Makoto?). It's almost like this game is some alternate universe Persona 3.

Gonna be hard for any game to beat Infinite Wealth, but this might do it.
