They don't like how they made him a pro-American boy scout or something. Like if Cap was in-character, he'd help Rogue regardless.

"If people saw this suit in another country beating up people, that'd lead to problems."
"Then don't wear the suit, Cap."

That kinda stuff.

Just finished watching and holy fuck, Rogue was incredible in this episode. My jaw dropped when she dropped Trask. Never saw that coming.

I called Magneto being alive, but I had a friend explained to me who the "Bastion" guy was and the moment he said something about Nimrod (hilarious name) the only thing that came to mind was Marvel Snap of me blowing him up lol. But yeah this is a direction that actually feels like there's consequences in this universe, which is great. I'm on the edge of my seat on what happens next.

My comic book friend is also saying that Onslaught might make an appearance because of the state of mind Magneto and Xavier is in or something.

Nimrod (hilarious name)

I didn't find out until some time last year that Nimrod was actually a mighty hunter.

Nimrod is described in Genesis 10:812 as the first on earth to be a mighty man. He was a mighty hunter before the Lord. The only other references to Nimrod in the Bible are in Micah 5:6, where Assyria is called the land of Nimrod, and in 1 Chronicles 1:10, which reiterates his might.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nimrod

It's only because of Bugs Bunny that we associate the name with buffoonery.

I know I've seen a cartoon with Bugs calling Elmer "Nimrod" but I'd be hard pressed to find it. Meanwhile there's a 4 second clip on youtube with Daffy calling him Nimrod.

But of course it could just be the Mandela Effect.

Oh thanks for recontextualizing that word for me. I'm guessing Bugs Bunny used that as an insult against Elmer "nimrod" because he's a hunter (as the word means). I definately learned something new today lol.

In Jewish and Islamic lore Nimrod is also known as the fool who challenged God so Bugs is kinda right.
Heck, in the Bible he's the king that built the Babel tower, so he's still the fool that challenges God.

So what are our confirmed deaths so far?

We have Gyrich and Gambit absolutely 99% for realsies (that 1% being the margin of error inherent in every comic book death). 90% certain Bolivar Trask (unless he can be powered back up and even then, is life as a hidden Sentinel really being yourself).

And a very good chance that Sebastian Shaw, Dazzler, and Squidboy are dead from the Genosha attack based on Jean's psychic whatevers. Callisto also had a picture of her in memoriam so she's on the sliding scale towards deadness.

Am I missing anyone named?

It's not a one-to-one comparison but I had something similar like that happen when I opened up to my siblings that I was an Atheist. At first they were accepting of it, but then told me to lie to my parents about it or else it would hurt my relationship with them a lot. Up until this day, I'm still lying to my parents but that's because I'm really good at bullshitting that I'm a Christian. I admit it's not the most healthy way to live, but I love my parents too much to hurt their heart.

If your parents are conservative, lying to them until they wise up is the best option if you don't want them constantly pestering you (best case) or disowning you (worst case). Unlike being gay/lesbian, it's not something that's going to eat you up inside if you hide that part of you from them.

The tech Apocalypse has on is supposed to only augment his powers.
But the animated series never really touched upon that any, making it seem like what he has on is part of him.

Doubt Rogue trying to absorb his powers would work in the show, though....she's had issues in the past trying to drain from super powerful people and entities.

In the OG TAS series, telepaths were made to be quite underpowered.
The stuff Jean's able to do in '97 does a way better job showcasing what she's always been able to do.
Juggernaut got off easy in that episode's case from the TAS. Even she says it'll wear off (and upon his next appearance, Cain's back to his old antics).

You could practically feel his rage and hurt bubbling up, especially when it comes to feeling unloved. What struck me the most was how no one even thought about talking to Professor X about it. I mean, this isn't just some tall tale he's spinning; it's his genuine perception of their messed-up family dynamic. It's like everyone's just brushing it under the rug, but we need to acknowledge the deeper issues here. They like the Professor because he was the smart one and didn't like Juggernaut. And you know Professor X was all about it. Dude was seconds away from wiping out the memories of his X-men for space love. 97 spoilers
