Nope, they're trash and rip people off.

Funny how they used to charge you a refurbishing fee if the game you traded in had a small scratch but yet I seen multiple games I bought be in way worse condition and have other stuff on it and they acted like it wasn't a big deal.

Then I found out recently you can't get any less then $10 in Xbox credit, I used to get the power up rewards every year because you got $5 free every month to use on whatever in the store but I wouldn't even be able to use the $5 every month.

i haven't been to a Gamestop in years. the last time i was there was to trade in a bunch of PS3 games to buy Steam gift cards.

Yeah, I don't like the business model they have but a physical media store for games is a good thing and if the chain goes belly up I'll be sad.

No. As a former Gamestop employee, there's nothing redeemable about that place. Get rid of it.

Yeah, because my local spot is convenient for me for whenever I do decide to get a physical game. It really is about 5 minutes away from my house during light traffic.

*Both my local best buy....which has a video game section that looks pretty dead these days, and target is way the fuck out in my town, both being right next to my town's mall. (Yeah, I still have one of these that is decently populated. Rural south carolina town here). They are about 17ish to 28ish minutes out. That a waste of gas, lol.*

Said local gamestop is a part of the same stripmall as the wal-mart, but I don't feel like going into wal-mart if I don't have to its always packed damn it. Its just convenient....tommorow I'm going to my mom n' pop pharmacy to pick up my meds, swing by gamestop for stellar blade, maybe swing by the chic fil a in the same spot as said gamestop+wal-mart for some nuggets n' lemonade and I'm back in the house in like 15 minutes.

There was a time when GameStop was ok, for the right purpose. Before they cancelled their entire back catalogue of NES through PS1 games.

They've never been an acceptable place to buy new, though.

I havent bought anything from GameStop since Metroid: Samus Returns came out in 2017.

There's some areas who are so small that the only way they can get games without ordering them online is through GameStop.

So in this scenario it is either move or be shit out of luck.

I think the last time I bought something from a GameStop was on 2015. It was a B2G1 deal and, if I'm not mistaken, I got Ass Creed Rev, Infamous 2 and... another game.

To be fair, that other game could have been a total flop and that still would have been a good haul. I loved Rev and I2.

Ordering online will always be cheaper so I don't see an issue there. I've hated Gamestop ever since I saw how little they give for trade-ins and how much they resell them for. It's barely worth the cost of gas driving there. I know they have to make a profit, but it's a little extreme.

Like I said before, the video game selection at my local wal-mart, target, and even best buy these days is just going to be the mainstream stuff. Your 2K sports titles, EA titles, whatever ubisoft is current slinging etc. Now we had a mom and pop video game place......that only lasted about 4 years before they shut down.

Whenever I am getting a video game thats a bit more niche/a limited or collector edition release then it has to be gamestop. Like my tormented souls disc, hades disc, after image deluxe edition, any falcom game or nis game is coming from gamestop.

Amazon is not a option because pre-ordering brand new games from them is god awful down my way. Even with prime you ain't getting shit for like at least a week when it comes to these smaller games.....poor bastards who pre-ordered the mega man battle network collection physical didn't even get theirs for 2 weeks up towards a month from amazon. Meanwhile those of us who pre-ordered at gamestop just went to the store (or actually got it from their online store, but man the online store shipping price is bonkers from gamestop these days).

They at least double their money with every trade-in for newer games, even more so with older games. Then they sell the used game for only $5 less than a brand new copy.

eBay is the best way to handle buying or selling used games, or even new. Like Princess Peach Showtime. Gamestop has it used for $50 (for Pro memebers) and you can get it brand new on eBay for less than that shipped.

Let's be real. The moment GameStop shuts down, either all of these niche titles they only had the guts to carry will either be digital only or be online only to buy physically.

Local one just closed. I'm a tad sad. Rarely went there but once in awhile I'd like to go and window shop. Usually resulted in a purchase rather it be a game or just some merch.

They were the only place to buy obscure Japanese games before the digital age. It's just scummy that you were forced to pre-order or risk being stuck buying a gutted copy.

Indifferent. To me theyre just a source of occasional good deals on used games. Wouldnt be a big loss but Ill still pop in now and then as long as theyre still around. And they have stuck around through many years of predictions that they were going away.

Nope. I would be happy. I was sad when they turned Funcoland into Gamestop. Gamestop fucking sucks.
