This can be anyone you've previously only known online.

I remember when meeting up with someone from the internet was considered a really bad idea. You were walking into a trap, or something. I've met up with about 10 people from the internet, and all the meet ups were positive or neutral experiences.

platonically - only a couple people come to mind off the top of my head
professionally - a half dozen or so
romantically - close to a couple dozen i guess

and then i guess there's meetup, where i've been involved with a half dozen or so groups

probably between 18 and two dozen.

Yea about 12, it was a real pain in the butt.

Less than five. I used to run an online baseball simulation league in the early 2000's, and met a few of my players for a few real ballgames.

The majority of my oldest kid's friend group are people they met via Twitter/TikTok fandoms (including their partner, who they are likely going to marry within the next 18 months)

I'm surprised people in this topic have met with so many folk. Internet meetups are still slightly frowned upon, and this board isn't that sociable.
